Ndiaye

A few weeks ago we were wondering where the goals were coming from and real concerns about a lack of experienced striker's, funny how things turn out sometimes, Berge, Ndiye and MGW suddenly look the business and has raised our confidence about the play offs, I bet only FallowfieldBlade saw this coming and predicted it

N'Diaye and MGW were doing the business and were the only thing keeping SJ in a job.

Surprised Hecky dropped N'Diaye but as we have seen he does seem to get cramp around the 70th minute quite often during matches.

Growing pains, he is being managed perfectly

It was pleasing to see the maturity in his finish on Saturday. Over recent weeks he has missed chances because he has tried to break the back of the net and has put it over the bar (he tends to get underneath the ball and hit it on the rise) but Saturday was text book.

If we dont go up we will be well set up front next season. Hopefully Brewster will be back and fully firing and combined with Billy and Iliman that's a fearsome strike force. With Jebbo and Osula a year older to come off the bench that's one area of the pitch we wont need to strengthen.

I fear that if we don’t go up Ndaiye will be a saleable asset and there’ll be a few takers

Iliman's emergence could be perfect for our teams long term tactical development. Our front 3 now with no formal strikers fits Heckys patient passing style better, as the midfield always offer possession options and can find the space to retain it and put the chances away when they come along.
Playing out and out strikers places the teams focal point up front where the oppositions defence dominates and are usually well drilled in managing such play. Who ever is up front is usually outnumbered and so lumping it to them often means losing possession, so Iliman, MGW and Sander's ability to retain and recycle it is looking really promising.

You raise a very good point and one that you could argue augers well for the Forest game.

The last thing three big lumps want - let's call them Worrall, Cook and McKenna, for argument's sake - are forwards dropping short, running at them with the ball and performing slick passing around them. They'd much rather the ball lumped up towards a static figure they can wrestle with. They aren't going to get any of that from us this time.

On the flip side, Surridge is going to be just that which you could argue plays into Egan's hands at the other end. If he's just shackled Mitrovic then I don't see Surridge as being a more challenging opponent.

Not saying they aren't decent players but they are perhaps more conditioned to a different challenge.

And lumping it is what I expect we will do against Forest if their high press and intensity is causing us problems .

Though its been done by Wenger and Pep in the past, could argue that its a development of the overlapping CB's. As effectively we give defence CB's nothing to mark. When they eventually they lumber out to meet our midfield, the more gifted techniques should be able to overload them with ease.

What's noticeable is how 'relaxed' his finishes have been since he snatched that one at Bristol at blazed it over the bar.

Possibly a word in his shell like from Jack Lester? It's a great knack to have, all the great strikers have/have had it.
He’s always been an excellent finisher to be fair to the lad. The few very good chances he’s not taken have been very surprising. Probably just lacking that bit of calmness and self belief with so much more riding on it at this level.

We may not have MGW next season but I am looking forward to seeing more of this lad.

I've mentioned it before that the attitude of these players seems to have just shot up lately. He looks like he's having fun, Sander is the same and so was MGW. Keep up that spirit and Ndiaye, Brewster and Sander all working together hopefully feeding off of Billy's passion and experience could be the kind of attacking group that could give us a big push next season

If only we’d have had that the whole season. Slav was a disaster.

He's playing in the Prem next season regardless

If it isn't to be with us, then last nights goal hopefully chucked another £5m on his price

If we don’t go up, I’d imagine we’d be looking at having to sell at the best price we can get this summer, as we can’t risk losing out on his value if he leaves on a free in summer 2024.

I don’t fully understand all the financial implications around remaining contract length and player value etc.
But if we DO go up, should we offer an enormous contract to Ndiaye?
And if he chooses not to sign, do we keep him for a single season and watch him walk away for free in 2024? I think the only way that would make any sense would be if we thought that would guarantee us a second season in the premier league, assuming we’d been promoted. Would it be worth missing out on the 20, 30, or 40 million for a single season of premier league Ndiaye?

Or if he’s chosen not to sign, would we sell him this summer for the biggest fee we can get, and use the money to buy a replacement who goes onto a 3 year deal?

If we nick promotion then we have a chance of him signing a new contract

If we don’t go up or he still won’t sign even if we do go up, then he’s on his bike regardless and it’s up to the club to get as much as we can

I’m not sure there are any other scenarios?

After the goal he runs up to Coulibaly to celebrate. Must be close mates.

Playing in France is actually his preferred destination apparently.

That's just people assuming that because he said he always wanted to play for marseilles
But like kyle walker saying he wants to come back to united
He will go wherever he is paid the most
If west ham or Notts forest offer him higher wages than marseilles then marseilles can wait
