They are not his hometown club, he’s from a town about 500 miles away from Marseille. Think they are his club because they were the first football top he got as a kid, something like that. But agreed it will be hard for him to admit he has made a mistake and leave them.
100% this, his 1st club was Rouen Sapins who are 399 miles away from BDTBL going via the channel tunnel. If you put that into context which Marseille they are 564 miles away so SUFC are closer to being his "home town" club !

Wish he had stayed but in reality was always going to move.

I wish him all the best for the memories he made with us and not even sure it would be a good move on either part for him to return on loan. he would always be leaving again and I would rather we brought through a new youngster than we invested time and energy into someone elses player.

Bit like McAtee, I think he is amazing and love having him playing, however the moment we get someone to replace him, we should as he isn't actually our player and (unless there is a chance we can actually buy him, which I don't think is the case.)
Do you think Arblaster could be the one being moulded to replace McAtee when he is ready?

Yes, although might not be ready to be thrown in this season? big call to recall him from loan and chuck him into the PL.

I more meant if Slimane starting performing magic, he should be picked ahead of McAtee.

Agreed Arblaster not for this season, but it is always promising that another team is developing our players for potentially our future. Good shout about Silmane to be fair

The thing is Illy had a lot of trials and opportunities in football before he ended up at Boreham Wood but he never did enough to impress and earn a contract. He ended up at our Academy, probably his last chance. In his first season in the Championship with us he played 30 games a lot of them at the start as substitute and then once he got into the starting line up, he played games up to the 60th minute after which cramp meant he was often substituted. His real break through season was last season when he was nothing short of sensational. But that was one season, playing in one role, with a manager who believed in him and built the team around him. At Marsaille he does not have that and sadly he is now what people saw before he came to United.

Hmm. OK. That seems a very negative take on what is happening.
Its all true admittedly its my take on things
My best guess is that he's not losing much sleep over it.

He maybe, he was a fans favourite here. Could do no wrong
The Marseille fans have been less than impressed with him
My guess is he may be having a few regrets over his decision to play in France

I bet he is especially when his monthly salary lands in his account.

He would have been on more at the Blades than hes on now if reports are to be believed
He could have been showcasing his talents in the most watched League in the world giving him all that exposure that could have lead to a big move to one of the genuine big clubs in Europe leading to a larger salary landing in his account

That's my argument with it all. There's a chance he could have flopped but as I've mentioned, we obviously loved the lad, as football fans he was living our dream (I mean I suppose they all are) but humble beginnings lad with a clear natural talent, kind of stuff Blades love really and with the crowd behind him it could have spurred him to perform better than he may well be. I'm sure all fans say this about their club but it really feels like being a Blade gets under your skin as a player, specially when the fans are on your side, Maccas reaction when he scored last week for example.

I still harm zero malice towards him and honestly I'd have possible done the same but I still think his best chance to show off to the world was to use us.

My opinion. No. Arblaster lies deeper than McAtee. Receive from defence and drives forward and releases. If not receive from midfield and probes. McAtee is more an old inside forward working further up the field and breaking through.

No one can replace McAtee. He’ll have a good career at City. Like to think that there is someone in the wings half as good in the academy.
I'd love us to get McAtee permanently, but I also don't think he'll even get close to making it at Man City. If he's willing to just be in and around the squad, perhaps he might stay a little while.

That's just my perspective. No disrespect to Macca, but those financial cheats cherry pick near-perfect specimens from all over the world.

Exactly this. Look at Arblaster’s figures for goals & assists. He isn’t an attacking player, more of a playmaker.

Reports ? So you really think were in a position to outbid Marseilles ?

It was widely reported money was not an issue thats why he was going to sign with us
Marseille tugged at his heartstrings and put the pressure on with him and his family saying if you dont sign for us now we will never sign you. Then they play him out of position and make him a bench warmer
Im pretty sure he will have his regrets

And had he stayed, I wonder if he'd have had any regrets playing upfront with Osula and with Basham in midfield behind him 1st game? Or after the 0-8? Or after the 5-0? Or the other one?

He may have played upfront with Archer carried on his partnership with McAtee and made it 2-0 before Newcastle scored. Who knows how United would have fared. He would have been a stand out player in our team more than likely and more importantly for him in the biggest shop window of them all

He must have been hugely torn. Hero at The Lane, but obviously had a will to play frog ball too.
I'd have him back in a shot.
It's like that time i shagged a skinny bird, seemed a decent call at the time, but ultimately i knew i'd made the wrong decision, and
went with fat birds from then on.
He needs to lay on a fat bird again. Poor lad.

I bet you’d have been great fun in The Roxy 😁
