Then he couldn't stop giving stuff ,the guy totally froze ,the pull on Duffy was literally 6 foot away from him ,dopey twat.

Overall I think the standard of refereeing this season has been better then other seasons but the quality of the Linesmen has been worse.

Linesmen [in particular] outside of the blessed PL are usually woeful. I get that calling offsides correctly can be difficult in real time but not seeing a clear foul 5 yards away from you is inexcusable. More and more I am also seeing linesmen look to referees before making a decision on which team has won a thrown in, despite them being the nearest official.

Okay, that's two exact discussions we had last night! After we'd all had a good moan about the linesman after that particular incident I said, "Do you think when they get in at half-time refs ever rebuke their linos?" Seems he didn't even wait that long.

Not forgetting Barry's basketball impression in our box, or the elbow on Billy, that ref turned to shit in the second half.

Its got to be the best job in the world.

They get to travel around, being very well paid to jog up and down in a 60yard straight line. They make no major decisions whatsoever, and seemingly have 3 important jobs- is the net tied to the posts properly? Is it offside? Is it a throw in? Thats it.

9 times out of 10 they dont even put their flag up until after the ref points either way. When they do make dodgy decisions, theres no comeback because- like the referees- they are shielded from justifying their stupid decisions by the powers that be. Theres no accountability.

Even the fourth official has a harder job than them- dealing with the managers, etc.

Official missed a penalty for handball by Barry and a sending off for an elbow by their centre half at a corner on Sharp.

Would have completely changed the complexion of the game, despite how abject we were in that second half.
