We haven`t seen him yet!

Seriously, I was wrong wasn`t I.
Was told we had the first bid accepted, then his agent wanted to start an auction, tried to get Leeds interested too.

Boro were paying more upfront, so Pools are disappointed he has chosen us, credit to the lad for doing so, maybe the `bad attitude` story I heard is just bitterness from a frustrated Hartlepool fan.

We ain't Real Madrid so unfortunately we'll not be everyone's first choice and we'll face competition to sign players.

I agree with the "fuck him" stance if the transfer drags on for a week or two but after only a few days it's a bit early to give up and move on.

I'd rather be signing players we have to fight for than players that sign straight away because no one else wants them.

It will be a mix.

You usually have to wait for the better players, and as we proved last year Aug can be a good month for incomings.

I've heard he has a weird thing he does with sock puppets.

Leave him alone.

Personally I wouldn't lose any sleep if Shea didn't sign and if he's stalling over pay then fuck him.

I'd guess it's more to do with lack of first team football with us, he wasn't a regular starter in League One so the chances are he'll find it even harder in the Championship to get a start.

If he can get a move to a team competing for promotion in League One, I think that would be a better move for him personally.

I don't think it's about pay , it's just down to he wants to stay in South Yorkshire but he also wants game time, and the links with oztumer and Holmes is probably making him think otherwise.

Mendez Laing is widely acknowledged as being one of, if not the best winger in the lower leagues as he improved enourmously last season.
He is out of contract and subsequently available on a free, ( ok he will require a signing on fee ) but should not be any more expensive than Thomas, with one would assume similar wages.
If we have signed Thomas in preference to him it can only be good as one assume Mitch and CW consider him better value, alternatively he is being pursued to play on the right.

We wouldn't be singning one over the other though as they play on different wings

I hope we won't be waiting around until August and I don't think that's Wilder's style either. He'll want to get the business done early. As he has already started to do.

O'Shea offered.
Evans signed.
Thomas signing today we think.
Stevens - on his way.

Plus 5 out the door to make room for the incoming. Loveleh!

Think the plan is to get them in as quickly as possible.

But things change quickly, last season we brought in Moore, Ebanks-Landell & Lafferty in Aug, none of those were planned when we kicked off.

Wilder will want all his summer targets in by the first day of pre season.

The Nathan Thomas thing will be confirmed today. That's good news if so. I thought Middlesboro would tempt him, being a local lad. But he's put potential before geography I see? Great!

Only just caught the tale-end of this conversation about Mendez-Laing. Never really rated him when he played for us, but he was outstanding against us for Peterboro at their place last season. So...could do worse!

Hell of a player, being in two teams at once !

Played all season at Rochdale. Did impress at their place though.

If Nathan Thomas had his season damaged by injury last term, let's hope the SUFC physios are ready to start work on him ASAP, same with Ched Evans.

It will be good to see a youngster with some real pace in the side.

Let's hope he curbs his attitude cos it sounds like there's a real player in there when he knuckles down.

I'd never heard of him before this though!

Proper championship manager approach. Pick those from the lower leagues at limited cost which will improve you and keep your budget for those areas where you're short.
Of course he doesn't have the hindsight of having played the game before and seeing who ends up being amazing but I'm enjoying this more than hearing we're going for those no longer good enough for the Premiership.

Yes, he is one we are interested in.

Has really knuckled down since he was last with us, and is in the form of his life.
Could definitely make the step up IMO.

That's what I wanted to hear.

Shit off a shovel comes to mind. Every time I've seen bits of him he's absolutely tearing away from defenders. Amazing how much losing weight has improved his game.

There was also Chapman and Lavery last August.

Everybody wants their team in place before the season starts, why wouldn't you. But inevitably things do happen that lead to having to wait until after it kicks off - waiting for certain targets, budget issues, missing out on primary targets earlier in the summer and the odd thing like injuries or poor performances prompting further business.

This time though 'd be surprised if we signed more than 2 after the season starts. We've had far more time to plan, we won't be as dependent on departures, we don't have to sign as many as we did last summer, and we've already got at least 3 in the bag and it's nowhere near June yet.

Sign as many as we can as quick as we can. Let's not wait around get them signed.

The bigger money transfers will take more time. Championship retained lists will be coming out next week. These deals will be harder to finalise and thus take longer.

But if we have majority in by end of month (at this rate we will), then we can spend rest off the off season to add to finishing touches.

Thomas has knocked back wealthy promotion favourites Boro, a club nearer to his home, to join us? That can't happen, surely? We have no chance.

This is shaking my Bladey Inferiority Complex to the very core.

The club he's supported all his life as well

Times or Telegraph (can't remember which) reported this week that the atmosphere in the Boro dressing room was close to poisonous this season - given the obvious opposite in ours, he might just want to come to a club that's moving in the right direction.

yes of course, and I'm not ruling that out, although when you look at the above, it was an emerging crisis that brought those 3 in. It became obvious within a few games that Long isn't a reliable goalkeeper, we needed more height and power at the back and Hussey couldn't defend.

At least this time we should be going into the season knowing the capability of what we have.
