A MESSAGE to the Bluebirds – get up to Bramall Lane and help send Sheffield United down!

Personally I’ve got no love for that club and it would give me nothing but pleasure to see Cardiff be the side to all but consign them to relegation.

I may have gone to United from Cardiff back in 1994, but now I have no regard for the Blades at all.

Looking back at the record books I had a great goal-scoring record for them during my time there.

I scored 34 goals in 55 league starts in my near two years at Bramall Lane, but Sheffield United is one of those clubs where nothing is ever good enough for them.

That’s the attitude up there, I was never one of ‘their boys’ and it was made clear I never would be.

When I left for Bolton, it was made out I was ‘jumping ship’ which was not near the truth at all.

Despite all I had done for them, after I left, the Blades’ fans, gave me nothing but abuse, a lot of it very personal and out of order. The play-off final when I was playing for Wolves was quite shocking.

No, I’ve never forgotten what was said to me and I never will. The Blades’ predicament now can’t help but make me smile.

I remember at the start of this season talking to someone quite high up in the club and I asked him how he thought they were going to do this season.

He was full of confidence, believing they were going to do just fine, indeed they thought they were going to have a fantastic campaign.

I pointed out that they had no pace at all from back to front in the side and I thought they were going to struggle.

He laughed in my face, but who’s laughing now?

Let’s see Cardiff go there tomorrow night and steam-roller the Blades. That’s the attitude Dave Jones’ men need to go with and they are quite capable of carrying it out.

The difference in quality between both sides is enormous.

One thing the Bluebirds need to do is keep a clean sheet for the first half-hour.

The Blades’ fans will start to turn on their side by then. People talk about Bluebirds’ supporters having a short-fuse, but the home fans at Bramall Lane are something else when it comes to being fickle.

They will turn on their players, especially when you consider the season they have been having, and that can only be to Cardiff’s benefit.

We only abused poor Nathan because he deserved it.

Now can somebody please fetch him a tissue. I hate to see a grown man cry, and his mascara is starting to run :cry2:

being a tea leaf might have had summatt to do with it. saying that klu klux kendall only played him for the 1st half (in his 1st game as manager ,ipswich away nil nil,)then got shut !!!

He's spot on. It's exactly the same as people loving Monty because he runs around a lot barging into people.

He sounds a right nob but he's spot on about our lack of pace. We must be the slowest team in the league.

never heard anyone say a bad word about blake except his arse was the biggest in premierleague history and indeed has its own postcode ,nay orbit lolz que hilarrrrity

He's spot on about us turning on our own players?

Oh... yes... I see your point.

Nathan Blake Dingle. A proper footballer but not liked by Blades because he was lazy, arrogant, selfish etc etc. Get Monty in.

He's bang on the money tbqf.

Some fair comments from 'the new man at the head of the escape committee'.
Although he doesn't say it, there was a whiff of something particularly unpleasant about the attitudes towards the man with the biggest arse in football.

Didn't he get a ridiculous amount of racist abuse at Cardiff prior to signing for us?

We hate lazy, arrogant footballers? Only when their arrogance isn't based on the fact that they're special. TC? Hodges? Even Kabba when he was knocking them in were all held in the highest esteem by the Blades. The guy just sounds mardy rather than arrogant.

Well, we do have a habit of turning on our players, usually through their own ineptnes, but sometimes unnecessary. That said, footballers will always get some stick, especially playing for another team against his new team. Fact of life, part of the game.

Well Mr Blake, I only had good memories of your tenure at The Lane, but now you can take a hike, visit your mum in prison, come down the pub and let me stand a pint on the shelf that is your arse!!!

Quite possibly.
I'd love to know what happened surrounding his departure from the Lane which was I believe very shortly after Mr Kendall arrived.

Kendall played him for a half, at Ipswich, took him off, and sold him to Bolton for a million. I was a big Nathan Blake fan and was not happy, and Kendall's reputation where black players were concerned was muttered about, but in what must be a unique event in United history:

(i) Kendall was selling as he was allowed to invest the money in other players

(ii) some of those players (Vonk, Hutchison, Short, Patterson) were actually pretty good.

Seen from that angle, and when you realise Taylor and Walker arrived soon after, it was a pretty good deal. Whether there are non footballing reasons, I don't know, although Blake was in trouble soon after this...

It may be my memory playing tricks but I don't remember him receiving any abuse whilst paying for us.

He did take some dogs abuse on his return with Bolton which I never understood at all (indeed I won a crate of ale from the Green 'Un for writing a letter saying how stupid it was) and I wouldn't ever come back again after writing that.

Just as a matter of interest how come Nathan Blake, Uncle Tom Cobley and all, were the ones who could see we had no pace in any part of the team and anyone tasked with actually doing something about it couldn't?

How come we could all see that Neill Collins and Michael Doyle were awful signings?

Some things have more obvious answers than we think.

Bergen for Manager it is then. The "Shawcross" to become a standard unit of measurement.

Very disappointing to read as I always liked Blake and I certainly don't remember any of the abuse of the type Len hints at. In fact I don't recall much racist abuse from Blades fans over the years.

and to think, I sat on his knee in 1995!

Sadly enough, on the first game i took my last girlfriend to see, we were sat in front of a bunch of six meatheads who regaled anyone in earshot to "You're just a team full of niggers." This was at at the Emirates when we got spanked 6-0. Thankfully they all got thrown out by the police (and hopefully arrested) at half-time.

That wasn't the first or last time i've heard racist abuse from United fans. The racist element is still there unfortunately

Apart from one argument I had with a bloke who said 'its the ni**ers fault' a few years ago, I haven't heard any other racist remarks at lane...probably due to where I sit, but this happens at most grounds in the country, although the government and liberals refuse to admit, its rife throughout the country

I've heard it plenty of times, though as i mostly only go to away games, i may have a different perspective to you.

I understand our number at QPR included someone who spent the majority of the game informing the residents of Acton, Ealing and White City that "you've all lost your streets".
