I thought the jail sentence was for the assault on a pig fan (I could be wrong). From what I ve heard or read about him Im not that keen on him as a human being. But Wilder rates him as a footballer. So I ll go with that. Personally I ve been called far worse than a piggy bastard and a grunter and just shrugged it off. I know what I am.
It was a assault on a wendy

Great, yet another Madine thread. This is getting really boring now. I can't wait for him to smash in the winner against QPR.
I think there's a small minority of United fans, who will be happier if Madine fails, we don't make promotion and Wilder leaves at the end of the season, so we return in the obscurity of before; some, just seem far happier moaning. Life is very short, this is a rare opportunity for the football club I've supported for over 30 years to achieve something and I agree with Wilder's comments today; let's not make fools of ourselves, we should support the team on the pitch together.

Not sure that's quiiiiite the case N20.

As much as I'm OK with the signing I can understand others having reservations. Last thing this club needs tho is fan on fan agro - both stances make sense. This is up to wilder and madine to make work.

Well said but for some bizarre reason some people cannot get their head around this and choose to ignore. I suspect that most of the haters on here still go to the lane but there will be some that don't go anymore that will shouting abuse at the TV and Radio and most probably the dog about Madine.

Some would rather see failure as a success

Was Madine 'welcomed' to the Lane at the Barnet match?

No because he hadn't signed, and he'll be on the bench for QPR so they won't trot him out special, they've avoided having a moment just for him, perhaps wisely.

Suppose his name will be read out when the teams get read out but in the middle of that people will either not be paying attention or GSinc will read it too quick for a proper reaction.

The blade doesn’t matter , all hail Gary

Madine/Brexit ? The same thing really when it boils down to it. Different people have different legitimate reasons for their opinions and beliefs.

Eventually for both Madine and Brexit it will settle down into a 'nothing issue' over time.

However, how would you feel if the club signed a player who broke your jaw purely because you told them you supported that club. A club you've spent thousands of pounds following home and away.

I'd stop supporting the club, and never waste another second on them.

Ahh yes forget it was all confirmed after that match. As you say, probably wise just to avoid a big unveiling.

Plenty of long time members have started new threads about GM. Have you berated them ?

The answer to your question is 'no'.

It never crossed my mind when posting on this thread the length of time the OP had been a member.

So if Adolph Hitler was playing up front and we had Charles Manson in midfield and Ian Watkins in the net, you'd still support the team?

I’d first question how we’d brought Hitler back to life. 2nd question would be why are we signing 3 non football players?

Give over. You're allowed to dislike the signing and want the team to do well. I've seen zero evidence of any fan wanting this to fail and I'd be gobsmacked if this "minority of fans" the other bloke refers to who want it to fail extends beyond the Blades fan and his family whose jaw was broken by Gary Madine. And if they do want the signing to fail, fair f*cks to them. It was an unprovoked attack.

How you've gone on this giant leap from "people criticising Madine signing" to "fans wanting Blades to fail" is way off. If it allows you to make some weird point, crack on. But it's a made-up narrative.

An article on opinions expressed on a forum? Really? If all hell breaks loose and half filled fanta bottles rain down on him as he steps out the tunnel then fair enough, news-worthy, but what would be gained by stitching together and publishing a list of moans and he-said-she-said stories by pseudonym fans from this forum?
Newspapers in general and Radio Sheffield do articles on much less. Besides this is nothing like a "he-said-she-said story", these are opinions not unverifiable stories.

An advanced move from an experienced kidney puncher, cats have got tiny kidneys and are hard to pin down.

She'll be harder next time as she'll be expecting it now. I will use a Wile E Coyote inspired Dreamies trap......

Is that what he said? I’ve read it again and can’t see it.

I know the OP, had his wife not been with him, as big as Madine is, he might have found he’d bitten off more than he could chew.

A literacy contest might be a close run thing...

To be honest Im surprised Toby Foster hasn't already hosted a special edition:

"Oreyt Toby, that rich ex Wendy footballer called ahh lass a whale and nah us blades av signed him, a can't speyk Tobe! Dat Wilder dropped a reyt clanger. Am ahhht!" x 200

Silly post using Pinchy's straw men as the 'small minority' for a typical nonsense argument.

For the record.
-I want Madine to fail badly. A career ending injury would be fine by me
-I want promotion, OBVIOUSLY
-I want Wilder to stay for many years.

The above are not mutually exclusive. We do not need the divisive scumbag pig.

The 'return to obscurity' comment doesn't even merit a response.

.

Depends on ones definition of “unprovoked”. I had a close friend in the police, he told me the number of times that fights are reported as unprovoked, then after investigation that’s never the case.

A typical event that can occur is Madine is behaving in an arrogant manner flaunting his wealth in the bar, so this Unitedite gives Madine the eye continuously staring showing his disgust, Madine sees this as provocation and goes over to ask what his problem is, they square up to each other and the Unitedite says im a blade and hate Owls, Madine sees this as an act of provocation so throws the first punch.

One person could say it was an unprovoked atrack, it was GM that walked over to the United fan and GM who threw the first punch. Another person could say the Unitedite was looking for trouble by eyeballing GM making it clear he didn’t like him.

I know from personal experience that the newspapers have no interest in the truth, they want to sell papers so try to create a headline grabbing story without stating factual lies.

So in this case the headline would be “unprovoked attack by a footballer”, that’s what people see then make a judgement without knowing the full facts.

By the way I’m NOT saying this is the case here, no idea as I wasn’t there im saying this type of misleading reporting has occurred many times in the past.

Do I like Madine? Not in the least.

Is he a formidable centre-forward? I believe he is.

Do I ❤️ United. You bet. Truly, Madly, Deeply.

If GM succeeds in the next 6 months, will that benefit my club? Undoubtedly.

Is it madness to want a United player to fail? Bonkers.

Will I celebrate if GM scores? Absolutely. Why would I not celebrate a goal for United?

Anyone putting hostility towards a United player before supporting our club is in need of a physician, particularly with a golden prize within our grasp.

Nope and such a laughable suggestion. Some fans just hope Madine isn't used and fucks off at the earliest opportunity.

The support for Wilder and the rest of the squad remains as it was.

I'm well aware these things aren't black and white. But read the court reporting. It has to be factual. The Sheff Utd victim didn't even recognise Gary Madine. And Madine only claimed self-defence in the case of the Wednesday fan, ironically enough. Sounds pretty unprovoked to me.

In any case, unprovoked or not, my main point was to excuse the friends and family of the victim, even if Blades, if they wanted the signing to fail. They might not even care. But, to repeat, if they do want the signing to fail, fair f*cks to them. I feel pretty strongly about that.

Who's doing this, out of interest?

Predicament.

We are over at the game this weekend and my young lad likes to get down to the lane early and get his picture taken with the players as they arrive. When Madine appears in club tracksuit do I allow the lad to have his picture taken with Madine or do I tell him to give it a miss?
