So is it just rumours or actually confirmed we're looking to bring in one more (excluding the obvious trialist)

So far ive seen some say its another CAM but some also a RWB and some have said it may be a high profile player...?

YorkBlade without giving too much away any chance can expand on this?

Apparently Hecky was in Manchester today eyeballing a target if I read it correctly?

Sean Robertson played in a trial for Derby after playing for us.

Sounds like we're looking at both. Given our strength at 10: Berge, Ndiaye, Khadra, I'd assume the next one in will be more of a cover player.
Same applies at RWB.

I think we still need at least 2 more.

A striker is a must, as we currently have Brewster, Jebbo and Osula fully fit, whilst we all pray on Sharp being ready. Ndiaye is another option up top but that then takes away from our attacking midfield options.

So on that basis, being greedy I would like us to get another attacking mid in as well. Even at full strength last season we didn't have too many game changing options on the bench, so another fast, tricky player who is pushing the rest of the No.10s/ AMs could be just the tonic.

I am also still concerned about CM and lack of energy, especially with Doyle being injured. But then I remind myself that Coulibaly is effectively a new signing, so we might be ok...?

I am less concerned about RWB, as Bash and Ozzy can both do a job covering there for the short term, if needed.

I still think we are one attacker short from the perfect window. We could do with 6 players for the top three positions on the pitch, Brewster, Sharp, Ndiaye, Berge, Khadra and one more. Just thinking over a full season with injuries and 5 subs it’s gonna be important.

Interesting hecky has been in Manchester. I’d love us to pick up Hannibal Mejbri from Man U on a loan, very very exciting CAM but they’ll more than likely send him abroad. Imagine if it was Chong. That would then genuinely be our best window in my memory.

If I was super greedy I’d be in for another central midfielder too but that’s assuming Coulibaly doesn’t step up. If he does, we’re fine there with Norwood, Doyle, Fleck, Coulibaly and Arblaster getting minutes as and when. Unless it’s someone obviously too good to be true I’d prefer to give Arby the minutes tbh as he’s our asset to develop.

Defence is as strong as it has been in a long time. Defences win you titles. I think people are forgetting just how good Bogle was in an attacking sense. That was also playing in sides that had Burke and Mcburnie in. Imagine how he’s gonna be with ndiaye, khadra, Doyle in our new look attack.

I can’t work out if I’m being biased or if we have head and shoulders the best side in the league.

Coulibaly will step up

Think the 10 we’re chasing will be a top quality loan and one that we’re prepared to wait for right to the last knockings of the window.

We’d be fine going into the season with Ndiaye, Khadra and Berge covering the 10 position so there’s no pressing need to move on to other targets in order to get bodies in to make the squad viable for the coming season. That’s why I think we’ll be chasing a player or players who have a chance of making a prem squad this coming season and making sure we’re well positioned if they don’t make the final cut at their respective clubs

Yep, a fit bogle is absolutely transformative. So naturally he's our longest term injury absentee

I would imagine the rumours will fly because Hecky is maki my preparations in case we lose Berge late on.

He will presumably get some coin to go and spend and it’s no good starting the conversation about who we want at that point.

Nice to have actually done most of our business before we’ve kicked a ball in anger for a change.

Sadly only really Clark and Anel have had a preseason however.

I can't see the 10 being top quality when we have Berge, Ndiaye and Khadra already occupying 3/4 of the spaces. Unless Berge is leaving?

It's just a couple of cover positions and a focal point at the top of the field that link play and finish off chances. I'm confident we will create.
It concerns me that we're going into the season hoping and praying that Sharp, McBurnie & Brewster come back from long-term lay-offs in good form.
Particularly when McBurnie & Brewster are still unproven in our system.
You're then relying on Sharp again, but how much longer can we keep doing that? He's 36 and last season was a warning that we can't keep flogging him.

I think Ndiaye gives us flexibility in that regard we’re quite comfortable pushing him further forward into the striker position.

I don’t think Khadra is guaranteed starts if I’m honest I think he’ll have to fight for the shirt and if he does and wins it then bonus we get a hell of a player on a perm if we go up if he doesn’t then nothing lost.

If we’re chasing just another body to come in as a 10 then I don’t see why that kind of deal wouldn’t already be done as surely that players parent club would be itching to send them out the door.

I don't think it will be a loan. You'd expect a loan to come in and walk into the team, otherwise the parent club would just keep hold.
I wouldn't be shocked if someone like Joe Lolley came in to fill that last slot at 10.

It depends loans can also be players that the parent club just wants off the wage bill see hourihane and us with Burke and Freeman we didn’t really care if they played or not just wanted them out.

True. But I hope we don't waste loans like that. Forest have provided the blueprint.

We need to target someone like Keinan Davis or James Garner (like, not actually them) at the end of the window.
Someone we can't afford but we know will have an instant impact.

I agree other than rightback we now have a pretty complete squad with good experienced cover for all positions. That’s why I’m saying I’d hold out now for a shot and bringing in a true match winning player someone who can win us a game even when we’re playing poorly.

If we sign Hannibal and don't nickname him Lecter I will renounce my support.

Cant disagree it’s been a decent window given our circumstances. However, can’t put my finger on it but it feels like a group of individuals and not a team. The injuries are the biggest concern, if we had a fit squad I’d feel more comfortable for the start of the season but I’m worried Monday might expose a disjointed team with no clout like what we saw in the pre season games, woeful.
Hope I’m wrong.

There are some on here that are convinced that Berge will be staying with us. Hope that is true, but if he is wanting to leave then we had better cash in before next year with his contract running out. Maybe he will go in January if not this window?

you're being biased, very biased!

Is the disjointed team the Watford side that just slid to a fairly miserable relegation? Or the side that just missed out on playoff final after a cracking team performance in 2nd leg...?

Another attacking midfielder or striker and please 🙏 a CDM would have me reaching for the tissues

Personally, I'm still concerned there's not enough goals in the team/squad - Sharp should score 10-15 if fit and in the side (but dependent on whether 1 or 2 strikers are used!), Brewster could be anything (from 5 - 20 goals) but isn't yet showing the form most were hoping for, McBurnie hasn't delivered over the last 2 seasons and will also need to play catch-up in terms of his fitness and it's unknown whether Jebbison and Osula will get a chance (or be loaned out) and if so, whether they'll weigh-in.

You'd hope Khadra and Doyle will chip-in with a few but Fleck and Norwood have hardly contributed, Berge gets the odd-one and it's not clear whether AA or Clark will add to the threat from set-pieces.

What I'm trying to say is that I still think Utd are one short up front. As much as I'd like to see Davis there to lead the line, it's very unlikely and his strike rate is poor so perhaps someone like Kieffer Moore may be a good option if he's available on a loan - I'm not sure he's Prem quality and may not get much of a look-in at Bournemouth next season.

Got to have a buyer willing to pay what we consider acceptable though, doesn’t seem that they’re beating down our door as yet. That could change if he starts the season on fire.
