Sorry if this is a bit delayed. Had a gig tonight up in Eastleigh (Eastliegh Working Mens Club) which turned out to be a fucking nightmare. I won't go into details, but some people couldn't run a fucking bath, let alone a WMC with regards entertainments. Still, several hundred quid better off for a fucking paid rehearsal. Next gig is in a local boozer that does music and it will be rammed.

I thought today was a much, much better game across the park. Great to see ten men battle so well, especially against a Watford team who at times looked capable. But our usual plan - spend ten minutes looking like we'll score and failing then lose wood for the next eighty didn't happen. We went toe to toe with them for the whole match, despite being a man down from the kickoff.

I missed the first five again thanks to the Firestick having a bobbar. Whilst that happened (a minute before kickoff) I hurriedly tried to fire up NordVPN and get the SUTV stream but Nord VPN itself hexed my computer, shutting down it's internet connection. Luckily Firestick came back and Berge had already been sent off and we were already into trading punches with Watford. For the first twenty minutes we were pressed but made them look a bit desperate and we built counters quite well, keeping their backline occupied and utilising the better inside channels for a change. We also started passing better to not much effect, with the ref being a bit of a cunt now and then. The anticipation was there though with us kicking toward Shoreham that we'd eventually grind Watford down and nick a goal, taking care of course not to fuck things up completely by conceding first. Eventually you could see more confidence brimming in the players and they pushed forward. Our goal, whilst flukey and fortunate, was richly deserved and we parked the bus to finally secure the three points putting a better airgap between us and Boro who were fucked in the trump-pipe by WBA with what looked like pretty basic goals. Why the fuck couldn't we have done that?

Foderingham 6/10: In a game of little chances he had not a great deal to do. He did however get in bravely in a scramble in the first half which was significant
Bogle 6.5/10: Thought he was great going forward and popping up in unlikely areas. A bit exposed defending though mind you it was a bit light handed down that right side
Anel 6/10: Drops a whole point for a stupid yellow which gets him over the ten card threshold. Some good interventions, blocks and interceptions but fuck me he is starting to get careless and clumsy
Egan 7.5/10: Solid performance and a vast improvement on the Millwall game. Great headers out and jockeying. Must have been some bollocking after the last dismal showing
Robinson 7/10: Another solid, knob-and-bollocks-out performance from Robbo. Long gone is C3PO. He's more like The Mandalorian now
Lowe 4/10: Seems to be going backwards. His confidence seems pretty erm ... low ... and his game is a bit shambolic and unpredictable
Berge ?: Must have been sent off in the bit I missed. Okay, I jest. I'll be kind and give him 4/10. Again, showing fucking nowt to justify being one of the most expensive players on the pitch and in Sheffield United's history. Ball watching, uncommitted, out of position, beaten for pace and agility. What the fuck more does anyone need to see that this bloke ... nice guys that he is ... is a square peg in a round hole? Today he was AWOL. We need players like him to dictate the midfield and the tempo of the game and throughout the whole 90, he was dismally underhorsepowered.
Norwood 7/10: Good game for him. Got stuck in and showed for the ball and cut the Hollywood's down again.
Fleck 7.5/10: Thought it was an excellent return for Flecky. Very John and little of Jim. Turned up all over the pitch and unlucky not to score in the first half. Really happy with his sixty minutes
NDaiye 6/10: He's into a goal drought now and he knows it and needs to break the hoodoo. Still dug a lot out for us and took two, three players with him on his forays
McBurnie 8/10: Thought he worked very, very hard and won loads of aerial challenges and kept their backline busy. Good 'assist' for the goal.

Doyle 6.5/10: better game for him and he made his mark in his area and attacking with a fierce shot
Osborn 7/10: Well pleased with his outing. Much more suited to LWB than LM although late on they put one of their tall men out wide, but that didn't phase him
Sharp 5/10: Battled and unfortunately lost
Jebbison unmarked

HJ&SMcC 8/10: Broke the losing streak early and got into the players minds at last that this is a 90 minute game and every minute needs battling for. A well deserved, if scrappy three points. Play the kids v Spurs and get the players back ready to get more from Blackburn Rovers. We have the wind in back our sails now.

Turd.
I hope your in-between-songs chatter with the audience at your gigs is as fruity & richly descriptive as your posts on here.
The 4/10’s……
Harsh on Berge I think. Agree he was missing in action first half though I thought he was more involved & more of a threat in the 2nd half. AND he went in for 2 headers, one of which put their fella on his arse. That was worth 0.5 on its own.
And generous on Lowe who was dreadful all afternoon. He looks to me like he hates playing football at the moment and isn’t very good at it either.
McBurnie was great today 👍🏻
Cheers Pommps

Agree about the Spuds game, priorities and all that. I think the Cup run has derailed us a bit. Abroad at minute so thanks for the synopsis. Mind you that racket from somewhere in Sheffields kept me up all night.

There'll still be a decent side put out for the Spurs game.

Davies comes in.

If Anel is banned for two league games, then he'll be fine to play this one. Egan is suspended which is good because he rests up.

So we'll have a very respectable Anel-Clark-Robinson or Basham-Anel-Clark.

Maybe Baldock comes back in? Probably be a toss up who Hecky wants to start vs Blackburn.

Then in midfield, I'd imagine the two City lads will be chomping at the bit and there will be a desire to make sure Coulibaly feels like he's not being excluded. I can still imagine Norwood playing.

No need to risk McBurnie so Billy and Jebbo will get minutes. It just depends if Ndiaye fancies another chance to break his duck.

I can see Hecky rotating as he's intimated but the good thing for us is that there are plenty of players of a similar level. Reserving judgment on Coulibaly, at different points in the season you could pick Fleck, Berge, Doyle and McAtee and claim they form, with Norwood, part of our best midfield.

Just had a look at our remaking fixtures, looks tough. Playing Spurs in an 8pm kick off and Blackburn 3 days later in a 12:30pm kick off, away from home, puts us at an unwanted disadvantage. I think the Cup run and inability to sign anybody in January have contributed to our 13 point advantage being whittled away. Only Boro can realistically catch us and looking at their message board they seem to have conceded 2nd place. Just wish Carrick would

I think that you're being a bit unfair on Berge dude! He wasn't as bad as you think.
If anyone needs criticism it's Norwood!

Seriously, a big win and a much better performance yesterday, with Fleck adding the bite in midfield that's been missing for too long.
Shame Anel will be missing for a couple of games, but the rest should do him good and Clarke should be ready to fit in now.
Onwards and upwards eh 🤔

Good effort to get the my take out after what sounds like a shirts of rumble in car park with Den Perry.

Couldn’t agree more with flecks mark. He showed up after missing a lot of games and performed well.

Imagine what a boost beating Spurs would be to our run in . Play our usual team and let's see how we fare against top 6 of the prem regulars
Play the kids v man City away in the quarter final and get a bigger boost for surprisingly snatching a win there

I agree Berge went out for a fag for a lot of the match, Norwood had to go deeper to fetch the ball and wasn’t at his full effectiveness so Watford did their homework and Hecky made a great substitution taking off Lowe so pretty much repeating what Pommpey said so we did watch the same game!

i think if we go up in 2nd place we’ll stumble over the line and atm we’ll end up like Bournemouth with the odd win but come back down as we’re a ‘good’ championship side but we need significant investment.

Thank you Mr.P

Sod the FA cup it's nailed on going to Manchester anyway, rotate the team Blackburn away is much more important.
dont see why we should , this we might get some injured argument is bogus more likely to trap a leg in a car door attending training or a subs bench collapsing and 3 key players getting injured

Norwood 7/10
Berge 4/10

Can tell you watched it on ifollow Portsmouth

So you'll explain why I am wrong, obviously?

And I watched it on SUTV, Fallowfield. About six differing camera angles and a central, high position in the TC Stand.

What did you watch it on? Be aware, I don't believe a word you say.

Will give Berge an extra .5 as at one point i saw him win a header for the first time. Admittedly he had his eyes closed and a facial expression like he was the recipient of a rim job, but nonetheless i actually saw him jump and win header against 2 players!

He also neshed at least another 5 but we won so I'm feeling in a generous mood.

Did ya win at the bingo

Jesus. You should have seen it. My missus and her buddies were pissing themselves.

Speaking with their committee members afterwards I mentioned opening the bar in the function room might bring the numbers up, as also lighting the fucking dancefloor (in total darkness save for odd flashes from our lighting on the stage) They said 'Yeah, were trying to appeal to the younger people to bring up the membership.' My reply - 'Bingo? Really?'

The whole fucking club is laid out wrong and for a time and demographic where places like that were packed with either darts/billiards players in one room and drinkers listening to Bob on t'organ and Frank on t'drums knocking out Tony Christie and Neil Diamond standards and t'main turn, usually a fat bloke who looks like Ted Bovis with sideburns singing 'Love Me Tender'. Although we had quite a few up dancing and singing, next door there were ten year olds hogging the pool table, a darts match on and a massive telly with programmes on. If you're paying a pretty decent fee for a pretty decent band, you need to make your fucking mind up what the evening is about. And stick to it. And if I approached a snooker or pool table as a kid in my time in WMCs in Sheffield, I would have been quickly shifted. I was banned playing darts at Norton Oakes Cricket Club in my early teens despite being pretty decent, simply because I was a kid. This is the way ...

They've got a lot of lessons to learn.

Totally agree re Berge, he reminds me of when a Sunday league team brings in a county league player as a ringer to play for them, who turns up for a laugh, just looks totally disintegrated thinking "I shouldn't be here" if we go up he should be the first player we ship out , he should be absolutely dominating games , especially in the EFL, he hasn't at all and I can not see him stepping up in the prem to the level we will need him to perform at

If it wasn’t confirmed before, it certainly is now. These posts are WUM clickbait.

Lets ignore the obvious gaps that were consistently exploited down the left side. Lowe struggling with the basics and fucking woeful.

But no, Berge never turned up (despite setting up numerous attacks and putting two their midfielders on their arse). Oh, and getting into a 1 on 1 and driving down the right a few times to win us corners.

This worth less than Sharp, who did literally fuck all apart from fall over and try to buy a foul. At one point he jumped for his header with his arse out, it was pathetic.

But what do I know, I was only at the game.

Thanks for the report. Fully agree with your assessment of Osborne the lad did well. Lowe I thought was really struggling defensively and on aa couple of occasions he was behind the pace coming forward and Fleck had to wait for him to catch up or pass inside instead. When Osborn came on I did worry somewhat but fair play to him he didn't let us down. In fact he reminded me of Monty with a bit more skill😜😜😜

I understand that Berge was saving himself for a gig on Wednesday night at Eastleigh WMC. Do you feel a little cheated by him ?

Some good solid 7/10s across the board yesterday got us that result against decent opposition , a result born out of graft & guile that had been absent in the last 2 games .
From back to front ... 3 centre backs excellent yesterday , far more organised , confident & solid with Egan back to his best .
Wing backs Bogle good a , Lowe struggling for firm at the moment & they were causing probs down that flank til Osborn came on & he played well after his introduction.
Midfield .. a lot more disciplined .. Fleck added the bite we’ve been missing all stuck to their tasks in there ..a trait we need to maintain from now in,, perhaps McAtee fir Berge would have given us a bit more flare but I think Hecky wanted to keep it tight after getting our noses in front .
Front 2 .. thought Illy & Olly worked very hard & linked up well , gotta keep these 2 fit .
A hard fought win on the back of the last 2 results but even more so after Boro’s defeat . Atmosphere a lot better despite it being a tense game
Well done lads 3 hard fought points ⚔️
