Sheffield United plc chairman Kevin McCabe has revealed his intention to stand down at the end of the season — raising doubts over the long term future of manager Kevin Blackwell.

Blackwell took over from the sacked Bryan Robson in February and is hoping to secure a permanent contract in the summer, but McCabe's decision to leave the club means Blackwell is not guaranteed to get what he wants.

McCabe said: "We are still seeking compensation from West Ham United and it is an on-going legal process which should be resolved in June. I don't plan to be chairman for much longer.

"I need to hand over the reins and we need more fresh ideas. Had we not been relegated 'unjustly' last season it could have been the right time. I will always be a supporter, but I don't intend to become a dinosaur."

Share price down............ This values the company at just £25 million market capitalisation. This is just a ridiculous valuation of the entire business. A rumour SUFC will be de listed from AIM...........

somats on.

I suppose that would depend on who comes in as chairman.

Been a good chairman for United, best for years.
Hope we go from strength to strength with his replacement.

Bono for Chairman!!!!!! :D

umm.....

whats AIM??

so much for his talk about "ill go when i get united back up"

oh well!

onward and upward

Been on radio sheffield that its codswollop.

McCabe will be staying on at the end of the season.

McCabe has said on many occasions that he wanted someone at the Lane on a day to day basis which he can't do anymore.

He has never said, to my knowledge, that he would walk away from the club.

:)

Regardless of if he does - he has two sons that worship the club - who's to say he simply won't pass the reigns on?

This is the more likely eventuality when something does happen, however as has been stated, this wont be happening at the end of this season or for the immediate future
