McCabe tells RS that although they won't pay over the odds, there could be a couple of special signings to be made

Only caught was said by chance and may have not not heard his exact words

Could take that a number of ways. As we need a CB or two, would Jagielka be one?

Just Mr McCabe doing what he does worst....speaking about football matters.

He should leave any comments in transfers to the management team. I dint want any of his piffle and hints about spending big money or special signings. Sadly, the fuckwits among us take that as meaning we are going to be signing players from the champions league and it only causes issues.

So stick to making money from your property empire Kev, and leave the football to the men who know what they are on about, and get your bank transfers ready for when the manager finds a player he needs. Because you idea of special could just mean we are going to be taking the special player at Charlton.

I've said this for years. Every time we're on the up, he starts shooting his mouth off, like a northern Eddie Hearn. He's always going on about being born near the Lane so he should remember the old Yorkshire adage 'see all, hear all, say nowt'.

And if I wanted to discuss whether Jags is good enough, Bladey enough, too old, too slow, too handbally, I'd go on the rumours section and add to the post about him.

Agree with this, McCabe should really keep his mouth shut.

Fuck Jags. Far too old. Taking Bladey Bladeness to reaches never been known before.

I didn't say Jags because I want him back

I said it because I think he used the word special and that could mean owt and not necessarily a big money transfer fee.

Best thing about McCabe this last season, like the Prince (and his team) has been that they don't talk, they just sit in the background and let Wilder do his job.

Personally on football team matters, only Wilders voice should be heard, keeps messages consistent and controlled. He's spending the budget.

I really like the fact that McCabe and the Prince have both been visible over the last few weeks, but now that the signings have begun, i'd like to see any communications left to Wilder.

If McCabe and the Prince want to talk strategy and future of the football club, thats fine, but even then i'd leave the ambitious stuff until we get to where we need to be (in their minds), it only gives people 5-10 years worth of soundbites to dig up again and again.

Very much doubt any clubs give a toss about other clubs forums.
There are so many massively varied opinions and false facts that it would be an amateurish way to run a business.

Manchester City have had real problems over the years because teams put their asking prices up for players as they know they are flush with cash. I've been one of McCabe's biggest backers on here, but he should learn to STFU. I'm not saying this will have a disastrous affect, but that it has the potential to make transfer negotiations a bit more tricky

Fair enough FM, but your post suggested putting it on here is the wrong thing, when that's not the case.

Wilder and McCabe have both said they won't pay over the odds. They put a value on a player. The selling club are either realistic or in our clubs view unrealistic, in which case we move on. Nothing really changes

I would also suspect that with McCabe making this statement, players may already have been lined up, fees agreed etc, it's just the timing that needs sorting

The OP says McCabe has said SU won't pay over the odds.

Wilder has recently mentioned on Sheffieldlive that "we won't just be shopping at Aldi and he isn't afraid to target proven Championship level players"

My view is that our transfer kitty next season will be decent, might even be top half. Our recent signings have all been in the lower divisions and some fans now believe that it's penny pinching and all our signings will be from the lower divisions.

I think McCabe is excitied and wanting to assure fans that we ARE willing and able to make relatively big signings but we aren't going to waste money. I reckon our new centre half will be a tried and tested Championship quality, we can't take risks in that's position.

Man City are different, wasting money is not a big deal them, clubs increase their transfer demands to stupid levels because they know Man City will pay. We won't be doing that.

Squad gentlemen....we still need a squad.

There may be some stand out signings to come....there may be several more in the vain we have had. But ultimately as long as they fit in with a plan, the manager has done his homework and they want to run their balls to slush for the badge I don't care if they cost a bag of crisps, £10million, came from non league or from the Bundesliga.

It will be my team, my club and I will enjoy watching them....finally. It's been a long time coming mind.

Probably the best time to assess our signings will be when the transfer window closes, rather than before it opens. We're just speculating wildly and winding each other up.

Probably talking about Donkey Darius. He was special.

There could be....
Words caught by chance...
May not be exact...

A whole two pages of responses based on speculation...love it

Little difficult to operate a fans forum if we all followed the Yorkshire adage '...........say nowt.'

Well, that comment was directed at KM, and any other chairman/owner who thinks it's appropriate to spout off in public.

The more apt advice for some members is 'it's better to remain quiet and be thought an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt'.

I've got loads of these homilies, I'm like Nigel Adkins.

Better tell RS not to put it out in the first place then and then we can't discuss it on here eh ffs?

Or go to the source and tell Mr McCabe to STFU perhaps?

You'd have thought he'd warn McCabe about it when tying up Cheds contract with him.....

Listened to the interview this morning and I was surprised with the Aldi comment, to be honest I'm absolutely fine with the players signed, they are from exactly where we should be looking, overpaid bloated championship has beens giving it the big un, haven't we had enough of them by now, and what can't be ignored is the fact that our championship rivals have been in for the players we've been signing, so where's the issue.... should have described them as astute signings..
