Moving on…

We get £34m in parachute money next season, watched that fan debate on the Overlap on YouTube yesterday before the game (recorded before Man U Spurs game).
We get 55% of the parachute payments in 2024-25 season and get 45% in the second season. It has been widely reported that we got £49M in the first season so The Bohemian 's calculation of £40M is more accurate than Overlap's £34M.

We need to move forward, new owners show there intent and move wilder on along with all his coaching staff as well, thank you!. Forget director of football etc, When we look to sign players like Holding he will think forget signing for them I'll never start, whereas a new manager and coaches can bed in through the summer and sign their own players build next season and hopefully challenge for top 3 come 2025 in what I believe will be a stronger league next year utb

Sunderland should rightly enjoy their moment because next season will be abject misery for them. We might have been in a slightly better position but not much and certainly weaker than our 2019 squad that did so well before the unthinkable happened.

Next season’s Championship looks weaker with Leicester also facing a points deduction. Another Championship season on the backs of Seriki, Peck, Brooks and Blaster will give them a better chance of stepping up next time round.

In terms of comings and goings: Hamer will be gone, Brewster is off to the SPL (both said their goodbyes to those fans that remained yesterday). Anel will probably stay unless a stupid offer comes in. Likewise Souza, who still has two years left. Robbo has triggered his extra year and we have an option to keep Choudury, which we will surely take. I can’t see any of the other loanees returning though I would take Rak Sakyi back if the terms were right.

With JJ Kenny and Jimmy Dunne joining, by my reckoning, that leaves us needing another LCB, two or three wide players, a 10 and another striker. So, 5 or 6 players, which is not a major rebuild.

Replacing Hamer’s goal contributions and general artistry is obviously the big one and will probably need to be via the loan market. We also need more goals from central midfield (none this season) and central defence ( Dunne notched 5 in the league this season for QPR).

On finances, we received £49m in parachute money for 2024/25 and will get around £40m next season. Hamer should bring in £25m+ and we’ll lose our highest earner in Brewster. So, financially it’s not disastrous, especially when viewed in the context of how much we would have needed to spend to win 35 points (the survival number for the past three seasons) next season. We will certainly learn plenty about our new owners, which is needed because they show little interest in articulating their plans for OUR club.

Yesterday still hurts and you could feel the anxiety amongst supporters before and during the game. However, this is not disastrous in the bigger scheme of things. We’ve had a good, and sometimes great, run of things for the best part of a decade now. Not something to ever take for granted as a Blades fan. We still have a good, young squad and a manager who knows what it takes to win promotion from the Championship. We also have new owners who will only make money by getting us there.

The future’s bright - let’s go again!
Ffs! Robinson !

anyone think the 2 lads brought in in January are viewed to be potential starters next season

I like Campbell but the fact he can't last 60 minutes after a whole season is a worry. To get promotion you need a reliable goal scorer and you can't rely on a player who can't last the entire match.
I don’t think you’ll ever get 90 mins out of him no matter what regime you put him on, which to be honest would be fine if we could replace him at 60 mins with another striker that also looks like he can score! That’s the issue, out of our strikers he’s the only goal threat so we instantly end up on the defensive when he goes off as we effectively have no striker when he’s replaced by one of the others. Hope we don’t sign BBD and would love to see Canon sold or out on loan then bring in another striker with pace.

In a way we lost promotion twice. First, that brain fart of 3 losses on the bounce that cost us automatics and the playoff final.

It's only worth dwelling on it so long then moving on. The manager and players need a break from competitive games and so do we. For many/most of them it may have been their first such loss but for many of us it's not a new experience.

We can take an interest in rumours, comings, goings, but best to enjoy the summer with family, friends and doing other stuff we like.

Take this as a chance to offload some of the crap and rebuild.

You'll win most games. You'll have a chance to give youngsters valuable minutes that they'd never get in the PL. You'll probably win the league, or at least be challenging for it, so... enjoy that.

You'll have an exciting season filled with goals and local heroes. I have no doubt.

Better than getting tanked 3-0 every week. Better than being forced to buy dogshit foreign players that merely see you as a stepping-stone to a top-6 club. Players that'll inevitably down tools and become unruly as soon as they feel that their miniscule amount of technical ability is worth more than the 100-year blood-and-sweat history of your club. Which is exactly what's about to happen to my beloved Sunderland. After a decade of rebuilding we're probably about to throw it all away chasing that 17th position in the PL.

The grass is definitely not greener in the PL.

The new owners need to step up now rather than later and show us there intentions,on Wilder while I accept he's a good championship manager his limitations are time again proven in big games ,as said before recruitment needs to be right as next season looks like it could be a much stronger division and for one actually looking forward to it rather than the week in week out drubbings and the sh*te of var
He's a bottler.
He can talk all he wants, it's all clichés and hot air.
He's desperate to stay relevant and connected here, utterly desperate

Birmingham yes , Wrexham would need to change manager
And I think they will as well, I also think they'll secure more investment from America, the fairytale is the Premier league for them..

A nightmare for us, but we're not really a TV show like them.

I read something about both clubs the other week and the money they have. Wrexham's sponsorship deals where massive for league 1, their shirt sponsorship last season was the same value as what ours was in the prem. Add in the TV stuff, owners etc and the money they generate is going to rocket in the championship. Also means they don't have to worry about FFP

They will be looking to go up, Parkinson isn't getting a side out of the champ imo
Parkosaurus is the right man to take a side out of the Championship. Downwards. His approach of experience over everything else won't pay off in the Championship where most the teams have athetes in most positions.

Great post 👍

The players leaving don't bother me, they can fuck off if they wantto go

The dross and donkeys Wilder signs to replace is what worries me
He has signed some corkers too. Campbell, Burrows, O'Hare, Cooper, Hamza. There's time for Cannon to come good.

No manager gets all their transfers right.

I definitely think it's time for Brewster to move in. He can't be a squad player on his wages. If he's off to the SPL then I'd imagine it'll be Rangers, but seriously I'd say any of the mediocre teams like Hibs would more be his level.

Exactly this.
We beat ourselves this season through a combination of (in no particular order).

1. Not taking any points off Burnley or Leeds - the 352 surrender before a ball was kicked at Elland Road was particularly poor.
2. Largely poor January signings with the exception of Choudhury, who I thought was excellent at right back when he played there (less bothered about him in CM) and was on Saturday, too.
3. Not replacing Souttar with someone who was fit to step in and play 90 minutes - Robinson is a goal start to the opposition in a lot of cases.
4. Losing the plot against Plymouth, Oxford and Millwall.
5. Parking the bus too many times when we should have been putting games to bed. We did it against Bristol City both times then reverted to type on Saturday.
6. Wilder having a squad of good players but not really seeming to know what to do with them. Some of his substitutions are nonsensical at times.

The biggest benefit that I found on Saturday was taking my 5 year old with me whose innocence to the whole thing allowed me to get over yet another disappointment so quickly.

Hamer can go for me. Fantastic talent but we seem to have no idea how to play when he’s not on the pitch and we can’t afford to replace/upgrade the rest to his level.
Would want to keep Campbell Souza and Cooper. Not fussed about the rest
It’s probably an unpopular opinion but I agree on Hamer. He’s a brilliant watch and occasionally comes up with sublime moments. He’s also incredibly frustrating and gives the ball away cheaply far too often. I think our confused tactics have often been down to trying to accommodate his style of play.
I’d be delighted if he stays but equally I’d not be gutted if he goes … as long as we get good money and reinvest it.

I've spoken to a good few people who were shaking thier heads the minute I brought up the name Wrexham.. I can't understand what they think is gonna happen, they've been ready to improve every season by investing, they'll be ready next season.

They might start poorly because the manager isn't good enough. I think he will leave holding his hands up saying that hes took them as far as he can, he'll go with a fanfare and they'll push on recruiting a top manager...

I think they'll be a threat to the top 6 if not next season, definitely the year after...

I'm very disappointed that we lost that game, but its gone so no excuses..well done..

Realistically you have to do what Notts Forest did, and that's smash every single rule in the transfer market, buy everybody that's tipped to become half decent here and in Europe.

Then wait for a few saps to get no points in the first 10 games, and ask for your points deductions that season...

The Forest blueprint... and funny enough they unearthed a few gems whilst depriving other newly promoted teams of some good players, because some of our targets sat on their hands in the stands on top wages, rather than get less money and play..again can't fault em..

Anything else you're looking for divine intervention, or nailed on to come back down and play us again.

Ps, I think weve missed the boat now for a few seasons...

Thanks for the kind words and good luck.

I hope you're right - moving on that is. I really don't see how or where he fits in with us - another Jebbo.
