Before people start spitting feathers, I'm NOT suggesting that we do this.

To add context, last week Neville and Carragher were commenting on Sky about how its getting harder and harder for northern clubs to attract players compared to their southern counterparts. They said that this could explain in part why northern clubs are in the decline (Edit: mis-remembered, they didn't actually say that exactly), and that it has been muted by some to move camp to London and just travel up for 'home' games.

Hopefully the Samir Carruthers rumours are not true (that he wants to move to London because of family reasons), but if they are it lends support for this line of thinking.

If this is the way that football is heading, namely that there is a clear and unarguable hindrance to northern clubs and this idea was a workable solution would we be in favour of it? It wouldn't really affect the fans so much, more of a case of city pride, but if it was for the benefit of our club I'd be reluctantly inclined to support it for us as sad as the situation would be.

Interested in what others think as always

Wilder wouldn't have it.

Don't fucking stupid , doesn't become a blade!

Absolute bollocks.

Let the pillocks stay down south if they don't like it up here. It's down to the players to think about the football first. Happy at work, happy at home.
The scots don't have a problem do they?
Any decent scots players have to move south if they are serious about making a good career.
It's simply Celtic or nobody really.

Yeah why not? It's not like the average fan can identify with millionaire professional footballers.

Also why do I care where they live? I only see them on a match day which wouldn't change, it's not like I meet up with them for a pint.

Another brilliant thread.

Yeah, let's do that. It's obviously something we need to be urgently considering.

Is anyone saying that we should do it or that we urgently need to consider it? Another brilliant response ;)

It doesn't effect us at our level, I think the point is that foreign players prefer to live in London so it could make sense for say Man City, Man United or Liverpool to train down there to help attract the best foreign talent.

FMBlade1 always trying to upset people and stir up disharmony, I smell fuckin Pork

Gosh there are some real snowflakes on here if they get upset by this XD I never knew I had so much power to cause so much disharmony, if we get relegated its my fault.

And 250+ messages on here and 1000+ on BM doesn't really suggest I'm pork, a novel insult I have to say so congrats on that :)

Rafa suggested training all week at a London facility to attract players to play for Newcastle.

You might attract people to sign, but mercenaries with their heart hundreds of miles away will always be playing without their heart.

FFS I commuted twice a week to Düsseldorf for years, did 8.5 hours in the office and thought nothing of it.

There again, if Samir's really thinking about leaving now after the parties they've had together this week maybe there's something deeper and he's not fitting in.

If not, then Ricky Holmes as part of the deal will do me.

Magic

Shall we move the Lane to Ealing as well?

Jeez, there are threads for threads sake and there's this.

If you can't understand what I'm saying watch the video, might make it easier learning for you :)

It never ceases to amaze me how easily some people on here get hysterical at suggestions (we get the same when moving from BL in the distant future is muted)

Players not settling after signing for United is nothing new it's been happening since at least the 70's when I started supporting the Blades.
It's just a fact of life players not settling at clubs. I hope it's not true because he certainly has something about him, but if it is then we move on.

Agreed!

Anyone would think you had suggested doing an MK Dons style move!

Let's have our next promotion parade in Aleppo, ..

No think about it we wouldn't disturb the traffic, no one would think smoke bombs and flares are anything like dangerous, throwing shoes against Bashir Assad statues would be brilliant.

Coutts and Fleck are too good for Celtic ;)

Please have a few days off, Cheds signing next week which should keep you busy so you need to recharge the batteries.

zablade It was a mildly amusing joke you made of that nature about four years ago, congrats on that. Can I politely suggest you think of some new material however, it is getting a bit old ;)

Watched the video yet? :)

You just keep on giving so it's hard to resist.

Look you some times make some good posts except when you get on The Ched jizz wagon, but also you come up with some absolute bolocks ideas, liked this.

And don't quote Gary Neville as an expert, he lost any credibility a while back.

If someone other than FMBlade had posted it maybe the reaction would be different.

But every single thread he does seems to be a challenge to himself to post something different and thought provoking, above all else. Whether it makes any sense or not is secondary.

Put him on ignore then?

Also if you think his thread is shite why do you keep replying and bumping it to the top?

Always glad for us to go our own way, good or ill. Not into slavishly submitting to "Londonism", not at all.

"We're Sheff United, we do what we want..."

Well this has certainly provoked a discussion at least! Wasn't my idea, just remember seeing the MNF clip and heard about Samir so put 2+2 together and thought to ask on here how they'd feel about it, and its clear the overwhelming response is negative.

Its not an urgent consideration, but could come up in the future, hopefully when we're in the PL. I have to say if the board feel its clearly in our best interests to train down south I don't see why we shouldn't support the move.

( zablade fair enough, Neville isn't really a top class expert but he was more repeating what he's heard from others)

The thing is, you're more likely to get the mercenaries signing for clubs like Newcastle, they certainly won't be signing for the culture!

You're talking about players with families and the location is going to be an important factor. I think some players would take less money to be based in London rather than Newcastle.

Good luck with trying to find a training ground in London, are you aware of property and land prices in the capital?
