Move Gilchrist CB?

As Anel got his 5th yellow card today he is now unavailable for next weeks game against Blackburn.

What do you think is the best thing to do? Play Gilchrist and Souttar CB and Shackleton/Seriki at right back or bring back Robbo into the team?

Also if Robbo does come back into the team next weekend then it will be interesting to see if Arblaster remains as captain.

Would start RND. But expect Robbo to start.

Would give Robbo armband as it’s not that serious especially as he will be there for one game until Anel is back.

For what logical reason would you select a substandard Jack Robinson, who hasn't played since a poor display on August 17th, ahead of RND?

Robbo is club captain ( just like Billy was)so he will be captain when he plays.

You're not wrong, but Robbo came to the club to play LCB. He's not played LB for us once (I don't think) and has trained as a CB in this system all pre season and started the season there.

Surely Robbo is the most natural CB as a result.

It's a fair argument, but Wilder seems to think JLT's natural position at this point of his career and in this system is CB.

Rhys has been playing LB or LCB in a three against Leeds, Gilchrist has been playing RB. They presumably train through the week in those positions, will we change this up for one game?

I’m not sure Wilder thinks it’s his natural position at this stage of his career. I think it’s probably more that it’s the only position he can be shoehorned into. I actually think he will start, but I don’t agree that he’s the best option we have. Unfortunately, we lack options for CBs who can play in a 2.

He came out of last season with credit because he didn't let his head drop
He's weak in the air on the ball and slow

Much rather RND play who has looked pretty tidy so far and is a much better player

Gilchrist or RND to CB, don’t start Robbo there, play players who are good at football and can play in that position. You need players who are decent on the ball when playing a two in the central defensive role, Robbo for all his pluses isn’t that good on the ball.

Moving Gilchrist infield involves changing 2 positions (new rb, new ch), potentially 3 if he goes into rcb and souttar shifts across to lcb.

Swapping like for like at lcb is only 1 change - seems better for the unit, even if you’re debatably not putting out all your best available players.

With Anel suspended, possibly our best option for a back 4 against Blackburn, RND might have been a good shout for CB but like Robbo, his time at LCB was in a back 3 not a 2, and RND was always better at LB/LWB than at CB.

Given we have 3 LBs, probably sensible to play RND and CB and see how well he does. Robbo isn't the future. Having said that, I have no issue if he starts Robbo or moves Gilchrist. The defence should be good enough whichever option he chooses.

That’s not a logical reason. Being club captain doesn’t mean that you always play when available, as we saw with Sharp.

I just don't get the whole thing with not having Robinson near the team. He has consistently shown himself to be a top end championship defender for 3 seasons now..He was arguably our best defender in the promotion season, he was player of the year last year ( albeit a low bar). But he is not good enough to be our reserve centre half all of a sudden.

It's one of the two areas we need to strengthen in January, another quality centre half who will push the anel Souttar partnership plus another attacking midfielder/number 10 and a centre forward.
No squad players!!
Hopefully CW and des are already working on it ( please guys just don't look in the UK there are some real diamond's out there in Europe,plus there's some cracking defenders in the Serbian leagues etc )

I'm not convinced by Shackleton, so I would put RND in the middle and leave the other three as they are
