Underrated? It's subjective. My mate rated Ndlovu very high but I didn't. Apart from a few exceptions, players are only as good as the team around them.

Alan Quinn for me..as an ex piggie I was desperate to dislike him,but fuck me if he didn't put a proper shift in for us...lovely skillful little player(superb in the promotion season),some excellent goals including that little gem against them fuckers(and properly celebrated too,non of that 'I'm not celebrating against my old club' bollocks)
I'm probably in a huge minority but he genuinely looked like he loved every minute of playing for us...

Has to be Paul Williams, he had the touch of Messi, the speed of Overmars and the instinct of Van Basten.

First up.

Darius Henderson. Often maligned but a superb target man who was commanding in the air, excellent at running the channels, and got on the end of a lot of long balls, and created space for others,

Are you fucking high? He was dross. Time does not change memories that much.

That would be two of us in the huge minority then..

I'd rather us have kept him and sell Stephen who I felt flattered to deceive a lot of the time

Gary Hamson

Only Blade to have made 100 league starts as a teenager. Has skill, good passer and a strong tackler, Works hard up and down the field.

Went to L**ds and then injuries ruined his career

Dave Powell is another underrated player. Excellent in positioning and anticipation. Good distribution. He was a regular in the 1970-71 promotion season until that injury at QPR in March. It annoys me when many Blades forget him and name John Flynn when talking about that season (Flynn made only 9 appearances that season). One of the big reasons why we didnt keep up with our excellent start to the 1971-72 season was because we were short of two class players in the team and Powell was a great loss.

David Holdsworth. Nobody seems to ever talk about him but I thought he held those late 90's teams together and he's got a signature goal

Another vote for Ian Bryson. There was a point in the 89/90 season where every home match the bloke in front of me would shout 'thi fookin' shit, Bryson' and invariably Jock would either score or make a goal straight after.

One thing Ian Bryson certainly was not was shit. Total stalwart and great bloke to boot.

Stewart Scullion for me , he would hit the woodwork at least 4 times every match , but was usually outshone buy the great "Alan belly dinter Woodward ".

I agree entirely about David Powell - he was a class act and a great loss after a horrific foul on him at QPR, I seem to remember.

However, take nothing away from John Flynn who replaced him and did a sterling job especially when covering for Eddie Colquhoun when he went on one of his wild rampages up the pitch.
