Just going to post similar, I stopped reading after that sentence. A potentially interesting article turned into something fucking pointless with the aid of just five words!

Yeh but who is going to do the research going back 130 years.
Post-internet would be a better description.

It would have been Watford overall I would guess. Too many to mention but Agana, Curry and Holdsworth stand out. Many more ex Watford but not necessarily directly such as Glyn Hodges, from Palace.

No disrespect to you or your post Sothall; it's just the principle of it. "During the Premier League era" is a pointless, meaningless bullshit statement. There was a lot of discussion last season when (that prick) Jamie Vardy went on his consecutive goal scoring spree; cue all the statistics from the "Premier fucking League era"......so what? Football as you rightly point out began c130 years ago, therefore so do the statistics as far as I am concerned!

Sorry rant over!

I agree but nobody is going to research every club's transfers back to the 1880's. It's too much work and the older information isn't easily available.

Before the Premiership came along, the media would usually say everything was the best "post war".

Records set before the Second World War were marginalised, so it's not totally a new/Sky invention.

I'm sure most clubs, if not all, will have their individual transfer statistics to hand? A big job for sure but someone somewhere would do it, maybe they already have, who knows?!

I like the post war/PL era quote comparison, same thing, I wonder if people were having this debate, erm, after the war?

Quiet night in eh?!?

I thought it was Chengdu Bulls, Ferencvaros and Central Coast Mariners where most of our money had gone?
