7-2 v Oldham (from 0-2 down I think) in the ZDS
Was just about to post same Was at the game , also Mansfield away was either 4-4 or 4-3 as well . Beat Cardiff 6-0 away in The seventies and drew 4-4 at the lane , also 5-3,v Dull last year ,We drew 4-4 with tonight's opponents Wallsall late 70s
Ndlovu had a blinder, remember the game well, got back from crete that morning and had not slept for 36hrs!!!Remember United beating Cardiff (I think) 5-3 probably around 2004, made more interesting by the fact it was 0-0 at half time. Have we ever had more than eight goals in 45 minutes before?

Or some black glovesThere's someone with the surname Ndlovu at the place I'm currently working - wonder if I should find them and do the Nuddy Dance![]()
Gayle got an og in the game at the Lane v Luton too that season. His prowess at og scoring had been asserted two yrs earlier, hoisting it high in the air then beating Mel Rees to it and heading the winnerthat gave scummy Leeds the last ever div one title before the advent of football history with premier league invention. That Gayle OG is a contender of best OG ever - very like the Andy Barnsley classic.
Probably not, but Man City came close earlier in the seasonRemember United beating Cardiff (I think) 5-3 probably around 2004, made more interesting by the fact it was 0-0 at half time. Have we ever had more than eight goals in 45 minutes before?
most I've seen personally. we scored something like 4 goals in the last 10 minutes
No. Stan (I think) had a header from a corner that was going in and their defender did a spectacular dive and caught the ball. There was a pic in the next programme of him holding the ball with a wry smile on his face as the United players appeal. You couldn't possibly get a more obvious pen! He wasn't sent off though. That pen made it 3-3.
We got another pen in injury time as Edwards was chopped down. That was scored as well.
And we lost 13-0 at Bolton in the FA Cup in 1890!My Dad came at the end of the game to give me a lift home. He came in for the last 10 minutes and saw us score 3 times.
I also saw the 6-3 Orient and 5-4 Brighton games, so I have seen 9 3 times, but I missed Northampton.
As for United games involving more than 10 goals, as well as the ones mentioned in this thread there's also a 7-5 home defeat to Blackburn in the 1920s, a 9-2 defeat at Arsenal around the same time, and a 9-1 home defeat to Notts County in the Cup in the 1890s before we were a league team.

Actually Silent, the game was played at the Lane! according to the United's first 100 years record - but Revolution may be right about the £40 bribe to switch the venue.
Name the player who was on trial for us in that Villa reserves match and he went on to play in the 1982 World Cup!On the reserve game theme, our reserves lost 2-10 to Forest Resreves at the Lane in December 1979. We were 2-0 down, pulled it back to 2-2 early in the second half and then collapsed!
We also lost 10-0 to Villa reserves in 77-8. Our reserves were shit in the late 70's and early 80's. We finished bottom of the Central League for about 4 seasons running.
Enjoyed seeing em beat the Spammers 5-3 in 1965. We were 9th in the old 1st Division that year too.9, when we beat Orient 6-3.
Btw didn't we get a penalty that day bc their keeper threw a punch at one of our players?
Any other high scoring games?

I remember going to a reserves match in the 1970s and we had a keeper on trial that played poorly letting in so many soft goals and then he got subbed I think. Might have been that Forest reserves game you mentioned
Correct although I may have asked this before and you answered!Mal Donaghy![]()
