I'm not sure if I've missed something but he's retired NOW and he still had a full year left on his playing contract.
It seems to me he's done the decent thing but he's still getting slagged off for it.

I think he had a year to run, fair play. Fortunatley, this was one of my "I'll be pleasantly suprised" moments. For a minute I feared I'd be baring my arse on the town hall steps.

Judging by Pupp's post on the other thread, I don't think he was having a dig at you:-

anyone who slates cresswell, quinn and even monty as wage thieves should look at the money chucked down the pan on morgan, who i think last played against portsmouth for about 20 minutes under gary speed? retired or just run out a valid contract? kind of takes the gloss of the hero we knew and loved.
