If it's at the expense of the league I don't mind being out of cups as soon as PL teams come in and we can go out with dignity

New ground for me so will try to get to this one.

Think this is the club's first ever visit there? In the only game we played against them we won 5-0 in the same competition at the Lane under the stewardship of that brilliant manager Bryan Robson.

It is. That previous game was on 25/9/07. Sharp 2, Shelton 2 and Hendrie scored. First goals for the club for all of them (in the previous round we had won 3-2 at MKD - Lucketti, Law and Horsfield scoring - their first (and only) goals for United as well).

think we played them at there place in a freindly about 3 year ago it was one of there first matches at there new ground. but yeah this will be the first competetive meeting

Supposedly the best pies out of all 92 League clubs. I've yet to find better than a rather scrumptious locally made Chicken Balti I had at Bury the other year.

I believe Billy Sharp scored his first blades goal(s) against Morcambe in a 5-0 win in the League Cup

Pies were interesting last time.

Being born in Bradford, my grandparents retired to Morecambe like half the town seemed to, in the 60's. They lived in a house 3 minutes walk from the old Christie Park.
Went there lots of times when they were still alive and have fond memories of the 60's team. They had a goalkeeper called Bert Gebbie who played for Bradford PA (my Dads team before we moved to Sheffield) prior to Morecambe so we had a point of reference back then.

Never been to the new ground so really glad we're going to play them at last.

I went to Morecambe on my dad's firm's trip about 1977. I cut my foot on glass on the beach, got crude oil over my legs from their lido and then fell off the astraglide at high speed.

There were no bloody 'have-you-had-an-accident' ambulance chasing dog-toss lawyers then.

When did you say it was again?

Do you remember Mick Harrity who played for BPA in 1971/72? He was one of the taxi drivers that took me and Dronfield based Maud Maxfield pupils to school

Yeah, much the same thought here, evening KO might make it a struggle though
I'm hoping for Blackpool away first game to make a few days of it. Otherwise I will be developing deli belly at work about 2pm on the day of the game...

when the tide goes out its about an hours walk to the isle of man

Only if you use the Chinese cockle pickers as stepping stones.

No Silent, we moved to Sheffield in '62 and only time I saw BPA after that would be when they played at Saltergate. They always seemed to win there and a young Kevin Hector scored a few. Think the last time was Boxing Day '65 when we played away somewhere and my Dad really pissed my mother off by taking us off to Chezzie instead. Only remember it because the following Boxing Day my mother was giving it large about the same fixture happening so my Dad took us off to Old Trafford to watch United instead!

It'll be my 3rd visit to the globe arena. once to see our friendly a couple of years back, then they had a freebie mid-week match against Dagenham season before last - that got a big crowd. Its the most local team for me. If anyone want to visit Christstie park, its the Sainsburys on the road between Lancaster and Morecambe. :(
