Monty looks like being out for the rest of the season.

From the OS
Nick Montgomery has been ruled out of serious football action for virtually the rest of the season.

United's long serving and most competitive midfielder underwent a foot operation on Wednesday to have a pin put in the metatarsal that troubled him for several weeks until it showed up on a scan after the fixture at Hillsborough.

Bryan Robson confirmed the news: "It is really bad luck for Nick who has had a dreadful time with injury this season. The theory is that he will be out for eight to twelve weeks which effectively means we could be without him until next season.

"But he is a quick healer and very determined so don't rule him out totally at this stage."

Shame. Monty would walk through walls for this club. There might be fans who jeer him and call for his head, but I'm not one.

I'ma Monty fan, and I actually think we badly need someone like him, especially when others aren't performing as well as they could.

A big loss in my opinion.

Bad news.

We need players with his attitude and application at the moment.

Oh this is terrible news for him, :(
he has been plague with injury after injury this season.
he will be sadly missed :(

Gutted for the lad as SV said he would run through brick walls for our club

I wish the rest of the players had the same attitude!

Hope for a quicker recovery than expected

Our midfield just goes from strength to strength doesn't it
Hope he has a good recovery ready to show 'our new manager'* how comitted he is to the Blades cause.

*Wishful thinking on my part, but hope I'm right. Sornob Out! :D

Shame to see Monty out. Although I don't think he should be a week-in-week-out starter, he's useful to combat against strong midfield opposition.

With the headline to this thread I thought Colin Montgomerie had finally acknowledged that talking like he does when he comes from Scotland gives rise to lots of questions!!

Its a shame for Monty, he has had a poor season but the injuries that he has suffered have no doubt prevented him from capturing any kind of form.

Hopefully he will get a full pre-season and we will see a return of the Monty from last season; winning the midfield battle and then passing it on to the more creative elements in the team (sa long as we buy some in the close season).
