Watched a good part of the Cardiff Forest match tonight. Apologies if this reads as an attack on Monty, it is not intended like that but I can't help the comparisons turning into criticism, sorry about that.

Thought Forest looked a decent outfit and thought it was a very enjoyable game to watch.

Both sides playing with great energy and vast majority of players looked miles more comfortable on the ball than our usual atempst at retaining the ball whilst moving forward.

It's very easy for me to see why we are in grave danger of being left behind by alot of clubs we would expect to be easily competing with. Cardiff, Forest and Leciester are my prime examples. Youth, pace, energy, passion, movement, togetherness and a modern style of play based on athletism AND ability on the ball. OK, they are far from world beaters, few players have both in CCC but I see hope for their fans in terms of squad and team building. I know they haven't had to cope with a re-profiling but I still think KB has had the funds available to taylor a squad along he lines of what I see at Forest based on the couple of times I have seen them on TV. Leicester provide another example of a club who I think somehow are ahead of us now in terms of producing successful football.

Moussi in midfield for Forest is exactly the type of central midfielder we need in the squad. It's hard to be worse, but he is so much better on the ball than Monty, can run, is decent in the air and surely will improve from here. I assume from what I saw he is playing the Monty role in Forest's team and it doesn't stop them playing an incisive, atttractice style of football like Monty does for me when he starts for us in a 442. He takes the weight of McKenna and actually creates attacking opportunities for the team rather than destroying them which in my opinion is what Monty does for us most of the time. I must stress he got subbed for the lad who scored the equaliser (!) - what a strike that was - I'm sure we'll see plenty like that from our midfielders this season!

Moussi for me anyday.

Totally agree Mic - and not a swipe at Monty from me either as he does his best and doesn't pick himself

For me you've got to be able to run, tackle, break bits up AND play just a little also

Can't think of any 'progressive' teams in this league that have a worse central pairing than ours, and a worse 'grafter' (in terms of being able to play a little) than Monty...
