Monty loyalty

It is true that I am confused, but more so by your message than anything else.

I can only presume that Monty got wind of potential clubs watching him last night and put a real shift in. His agent has probably being saying, 'look put in the work rate, but cut out the silly errors and penalties' est voila!?

It makes a change that he actually played well last night. Well done Monty .... keep that up and you might just earn yourself a premisership contract for next year!!??

I take it you where part of the 12.24% who voted we should sell him in the Monty poll.
Good job 12.24% is the minority

So before last night you believe Monty was playing poor?
Now your willing to let your favorite player go because you feel betrayed?

Nope, I voted for his to be kept.

It's all out of our hands now though that he hasn't sgned a new contract (despite saying he would).

Yes Monty has been playing poor.
He isn't my favourite player Boo, but i do feel like he has let us down. He stated that he is committed to United and would sign a new deal, but then when it was offered he turned it down. In a way that is worse than Killa, as he never stated that he was going to sign a new contract.

I cant actually remember the last time Monty scored (DARREEEEEEEEEEEN?), nor can I ever remember seeing the baal drop to 25 yards out and be quivering with expectation of a net-buster and being more concerned with covering ms pup jnrs face for fear of getting a wildly hit blast in the face. Wonderful though it is that he scored lets not run away with ourselves here, it was a one-off. Good win though (not that I was actually INSIDE the bloody ground despite my proximity  )

Except for unlike Killa, he hasn't been on Sky touting himself around or requested a deal that is by far in excess of what the club can afford.

Plus, they are still talking.

I'm not entirely sure where the "he wants to leave" / "he doesn't want to play for us" has come from, they just haven't agreed terms yet.

You see he is loyal and Committed because he is playing to the end of his contract. I believe that he said that he would like to stay and sign a new contract not that he would.
Now by your reasoning the manager has not let you down because he has signed an extention to his contract.
Now i got offered some work but it was poorly paid and not what i was used to so i went to see if i could find some better paid work elsewhere - does that make it understandable.

If United couldve commanded a fee for him, do you think he'd still be here now???

He's been loyal because no one else has ever seriously tried to sign him, don't see that there's a queue a mile long this morning and that's despite him scoring for the first time since 2005.

Woeful player, woefully blind bunch of supporters if you think he's the cornerstone of a progressive football team.

.

And leaving on a free during the summer. Great.

I believe that he said that he would like to stay and sign a new contract not that he would.

So why has he turned a contract down then?

Where is the evidence that we have offered him less money and worse terms?

See Olli Puppet answered even before you wrote ( he's psychic )

So why has he turned a contract down then?

He's getting 10p perhour less than this season

Where is the evidence that we have offered him less money and worse terms?

Thats it if you know they offered him the same or more - I hate him.

He will sign, trust me.

He is our next captain and won't get the same treatment at another club. He will be on a decent salary and from all accounts he's quite content being a Blade.

If his performance last night is anything to go by and his goal celebration, then he doesn't intend to go anywhere.

Of course he's going to hold out for more money, he's a footballer!

Totally Agree
Its not many midfielders that hit the headlines because they score at five yearly intervals :D

United are trying to get rid of players on Premier League wages unless they take a pay cut which not many players will do. I would guess the only player that might is Morgs but he is club captain which means a lot to him. Quinn, Monty, Naysmith, to name a few who look like leaving in the summer.

Other than getting a move to the Premier League (or perhaps abroad) which clubs will be able to afford wage increases at our level next season?
Some players (every single one in this country would be a good start) will have to accept that the gravy train has ground to a halt and it's time to put something into the game rather than soak the life out of it.

I ain't blind but I think he's a cracking player definately one of the best at what he does.
The great late 60s early 70s team had Trevor Hockey. I saw Hockey loads of times, granted as a younger (8-10) man but he was no better than Monty
IMHO of course

Hockey was a far better footballer than Monty
He could control the ball and generally pass to a red and white striped shirt something Monty has great difficulty in executing.
Monty is probably one of the best at what he does chases, harries tackles and either gives away a free kick or/and then gives the ball away back to the opposition.
Hes good at what he does because at any other club he wouldn't get as many opportunities as he does with the Blades!

Bet you two were gutted by his performance last night.

Hockey was playing with far better players than Monty is at a slower pace.
It must have been easier to give the ball to Woodward,Currie,Reeece,Salmons,Dearden etc than to give it to Quinn,Yeates,Henderson ,Legs of wood and the other "quality" players Monty has had around him.
Hockeys ball skills and passing ability were certainly no better than Montys and I don't seem to remember his goal scoring ability was either

Bet I didn't give 2 fucks mate, stopped paying towards the useless twats wages so really don't give a shit any more. If you and the rest of the Smiley Bunch want a Monty wankfest then go right ahead, just please remember that one goal in almost 5 years doesn't exactly make him the next big thing :rolleyes::eek:

.......please remember that one goal in almost 5 years doesn't exactly make him the next big thing.....

It makes him a defensive midfielder. His tally is 10 goals in 327 games. Morgs has 14 goals in 233 appearances for the Blades, but he goes up for corners and Monty doesn't. Naysmith has played for us 77 times, with no goals. But goals aren't what Monty is about. A Monty goal should be treated like winning a hundred quid - very nice, but you wouldn't plan your finances around it.

I hope Monty does sign, but I also hope that if he doesn't then he goes on to have success with whoever he does sign for, even if it's the Dirties.

Better than fantasies about animals. The trouble is your a member of a united forum so in some part you can give a fuck because your interest is still there - be it cynical or just to check if you did miss out on something.

He was looked at by Bolton once dont ya know.

No bid was made but the intent was there. :D

So you hold great faith in Bergen - I dont and as far as i am concerned proved him wrong when he didn't balme Killa for a goal that was clearly his fault.

You proved nothing in that debate, in fact you were a little unlucky for originally stating that if Monty had been involved he would have cleared it, when he actually was involved and kicked air in his attempt to clear a ball that dropped at his feet.

For the record, that was a cup game and not part of the GoalWatch summary.

Fuck me, how old are you? It's like dealing with a petulant 4 year old. You're the message board Nick Montgomery, tactless, factless, all huff and puff and with no end product
