Contract terminated according to the 'Sheffield United F.C' FB account.

This is not the official account mind.

Yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Contract terminated. So a player so unliked by many who can't appreciate what he could do bu pick on what he can't has agreed to leave in order to help the club out. Shall we celebrate?

I would run around alot, give free kicks away around the area & try to pass the pass 4 yards, if you paid me £10K a week.
Lets face it, his contract has been crippling us & he needed to go.

just confirmed on Official SUFC text.

Gone to Australia.

I for one will thank Monty for many years service at the club. Not everyones cup of tea, but I thought he was reliable up to last season. Obviously had a lot going on with his family illnesses last season.

Good luck monty and thanks.

You have got to hand it to Monty's agent, he kept it going for a good while

Very random, but can't fault the lad. If i was offered a guaranteed job in Australia i'd snap it up in a heartbeat.

And as far as the playing staff goes, i think that's the last of the Warnock era players to go.

All the best Monty for the rest of your career.

Interesting where and the standard he's gone to play at.
Obviously Lampard couldn't convince Roberto that the best player he's faced couldn't replace Essien.

Whatever anybody thinks about Monty he always gave 100% to the cause played when he was injured put himself through the pain barrier and had his family illness problems. I know his wages were a problem and his form was poor these last couple of seasons. All the people that criticise him need to look at one thing he was a professional football player and earned money playing the game. Its a lot better than his terrace critics have ever done. Good luck Nick enjoy the sun

Maybe he should share the secret to us "terrace critics" of how to get a championship contract with no relegation clauses without being able to pass a ball.

Gave 100% but everyone knows what I think of him.

Good luck to him and it is odd he should move to Australia.

Unsurprisingly his contract was terminated.

He's had a tough time of it off the field with the kids... I assume it all just fit and it seemed like a good idea to make a big change. They also have friends over there.

Just read his statement via the OS. A dignified and all round nice guy to the very end and imo an example of how the majority of footballers should conduct themselves

And not forgetting to take the money. Excellent example of a footballer

Totally agree. One of the worst players I have seen at BDTBL. He was a marathon runner in disguise. Great athlete, but shocking footballer especially on the wages we paid him. He became a millionaire on us. No wonder he stuck around. This is definitely ground zero time. At long last we are shut of Monty. Things can only get better, might take some time, but this is a good day for Blades.

UTB.

He had the choice to ask for a wage decrease to allow him to play but decided to take the money.

He has had his contact terminated I think that is a wage decrease, he wants to play football and knew he wasnt in Wilsons plans so hes gone to Oz on a fraction of what he was on here so again I think that is a decrease in wages
Were you any good at Maths ?

Hes obviously a better football player than you and hes probably better at Maths.
By your own admission I dont think youve got a lot going for you

He wont have had his contract terminated without receiving a payoff.
It was best for all parties. He was way past his best.

Better than most

I very much doubt he is better at maths. Def better at fleecing a club and prob set up for quite a few after the wage he was on so I doubt he would be too bothered having a lower wage

He's not fleeced the club in the slightest.

Even his biggest critics admit that he puts in plenty of effort.

Blame the people offering him a wage higher than you think is realistic, not the man offered it, providing he's trying his best.

Impressively dignified exit from the club in VERY difficult circumstances, as has been mentioned on this thread.

Thanks Nick for putting your body and soul on the line almost every time you put on a Blades shirt. The stick you have had over the years has been nothing short of embarrassing.

Good luck and best wishes.
