Monty Gone.......

It is a good move and the right one for club and player.

All the best Monty, a good servant to the club, always maximum effort the occasional thunderbolt and great pass but will always be remembered as a true Warnock style gritty midfield stopper.

Nice bloke and as with many who have gone before didn't deserve the abuse he got from some of our terrace boo boys.

Hahahaha.......I take it you have never been there?????

Yes odd that he should move there because he had so many clubs and managers over here that admired his talents. Mind you Paul Ifill is over there so perhaps he can give him a call.

You have completely missed the point.

Australia is the best place i've been on earth and I cannot see any reason anyone would not want to spend some time there and get paid at the same time.

You may call it odd but I'd love to understand your reasoning.

You may have noticed the word "some" but at his time of life it's a no brainer to be honest.

1, Snakes
2, Spiders

Case solved. :)

...actually I agree with you. Perhaps not forever but a year or two would be very nice.

1. Have you been?

2. Never saw a snake.....but saw a few crocs up close.

3. Saw a few spiders but our Staffy is more scary.

:)

That bit of Oz is not my cup of tea, but each to his own. Plus of course they are paying him.

Kevin McCabe is still on the Board of Central Coast Mariners. No doubt he had a hand in the move.

I very much doubt he is better at maths. Def better at fleecing a club and prob set up for quite a few after the wage he was on so I doubt he would be too bothered having a lower wage

You dont doubt hes better at football
Why has he fleeced the club. Do you know how professional football works
Club offers player a contract on X amount of GBP per week over a certain period of time, player either accepts contract or refuses contract.
If your employer offered you a contract on X amount of GBP per week would you get accused of fleecing your employer. The club offered him the contract he accepted it. Its not hard is it

I have been, aye. It's amazing.

But have you ever found a Hunstman spider in your bog? It's not a case of getting a jam jar and a bit of cardboard. You need a bloody SWAT team for those feckers. :(

Granted never saw a snake, but then never seen your Staffy either. Call it a draw. :)

Might be better to go with a bite than trench rot in the uk.

:D

Fleeced is perhaps not the right word.

I think the better way to put it is that Montgomery has not been value for money, certainly not since the first half of our last promotion season.

1. Never kill a huntsman spider. They are harmless and eat the ones that really fuck you up.
2. Snakes only fuck with you if you fuck with them.

Central Coast Mariners and the A League is probably the same standard as league 1/poor championship level. But Monty will stay a season and leave, like 99% of british footballers. Paul Ifill is a legend at Wellington Phoenix, and is the exception to the rule.

Whatever anybody thinks about Monty he always gave 100% to the cause played when he was injured put himself through the pain barrier and had his family illness problems. I know his wages were a problem and his form was poor these last couple of seasons. All the people that criticise him need to look at one thing he was a professional football player and earned money playing the game. Its a lot better than his terrace critics have ever done. Good luck Nick enjoy the sun

Agree whole heartedly!. All the best Monty and bollocks to the whiners who only ever made it as far as the terraces at a football club. A great servant who never got a testimonial unlike several so called legends who left the club when it would have been the honourable thing to stay!

Sad day

Monty didn't give himself a contract. Whatever you think of Monty, and it is well known that I am not a big fan of his ability, however he is a good man and deserves better than what people are saying here. Same for Quinn, fuck knows who Sitwell is going to pick on now ;)

Thank. Fuck. For. That.

Good luck, Monty. Good luck also to the Ayres Rock Shitkickers, or wherever it is he is going to. They'll get a box-to-box, ball-giver-awayer, doddy-toed hoofer, and nowt else. Great he has been at the club so long, but compare that with other long servers (Len Badger 457 games/7 goals, Alan Woodward 536/158, Joe Shaw 632/7, Chris Morgan 247/14, Cec Coldwell 475/2, Keith Edward 311/170) his 352/9 seems comparatively good. But we all see it different. I've seen him give away too many fouls (that led to goals) and do all of the other footballing crimes we have come to associate the word 'Monty' with.

Onwards and upwards.

Good luck to him; he is sure to be earning less money, and the club is to benefit too. He could have waited it out, but it's a win-win for all concerned.

2 down, must be £M's per annum saved. Does that bring us in line with revenue and allow a few new players? 90 minutes to find out!

No matter what some fans thought of him all of the recent managers, who have UEFA qualifications, have played him, and he has managed to make a career at a good level I am proud to have had him at our club and called him a Blade. What he does for the team he does well. Good luck Monty.

You really do talk bollocks Im sure you would walk into the Ayres Rock Shitkickers side you know so much about. Have you even had chance to commit any footballing crimes of your own, would you ever get there to give a foul away. He has played professionally in the top 2 divisions for most of his 352 games more as a percentage than Edwards did. How many of his 352 games did you see as I would think living in Gosport it must be quite difficult to watch the Blades regularly
You compare him to Badger, Woodward, Joe Shaw, Coldwell, Edwards and Morgan all Blades legends in their own right and all more talented than Monty. He will never be a legend Im sure nobody would disagree but
every manager he played under picked him as a first choice apart from Wilson

The one thing that stands out for me about Monty, is that during the 2010-11 relegation season, a couple of days after his wife had given birth, and his baby was ill in an incubator, he turned out for the Blades.

As a dyed in the wool blade, i wouldn't/couldn't have done it.

I never rated Monty as a footballer, but he did the job that he had to do, never bottled it, never shirked a challenge, and gave us his all.

I'll not remember Monty for his limitations, but for the effort he put in, and the service he gave us. 400 games and 12 years service is rare in the current day, and worth remembering.

Good Luck Monty.

Irrespective of what people think or don't think about his ability, he been a great LOYAL servant to OUR football club.

How many more players can you name that have stayed at a single club. Ryam Giggs, but not many more.

All the best Mate
