A week after CW departure & the initial feelings have subsided I am having mixed emotions regarding CW.

One of increasing anger that he has left us with such a poor team after spending so much money, anger at a growing feeling that he has left us in a really poor position & feeling that his departure was somewhat engineered, but not knowing the facts means that we are just left with questions. And anger that we the fans are being treated as commodities, that maybe sometime in the future someone will tell us what has gone off, but maybe not!

At the same time I am dismayed that the 4 great years have gone & the man that gave us those years has just drifted away. I feel a little guilty at doubting that he was not forced out by [well we may never know] owners/circumstances, and that he has not been able to stand the heat when the going got tough. I feel sad that a man who was 'one of our own' who gave us those years has gone & that I am beginning to doubt him, and wonder if he has been found out, & in reality it was always like 'the Emperor's new clothes'?

Would I have him back tomorrow, you bet, but I would like some answers.

He has left us with the nucleus of a team that finished 9th in the Premier League a season ago, some young players with high potential, and millions in parachute payments. That's a "really poor position" that 90% of clubs in the country wouldn't mind being in.

After that performance, I’ll be interested to see how our “dud” buys perform. It could be that CW was fine with journeymen but didn’t know how to get the best out of thoroughbreds.

He is and will always be a part of this club, as it is a part of him.
But you have separate your professional goals from sentiment. I do not believe he walked away lightly and without a heavy heart, I also suspect that he wishes it could've gone differently.

People seem to think they know Chris Wilders hidden motivations and intentions. But it's pure conjecture.

Whatever happened and whoever was at fault, Wilder remains one of our own regardless.

Exactly my thoughts we played different to a wilder team it proves to me hecky and tindal are working hard on the training ground

Folk can’t seem to compute the fact that a £20m signing in 2021 amounts to an unproven player from a lower league.

I expect these signings to perform next season, and I expect some of them will go onto good premier league careers. Sadly the Wilder miracle machine didn’t extend to realising these players’ potential instantly. He had no doubt hoped that last season’s squad would buy enough time for this to happen.

Getting angry that it didn’t isn’t for me.

Lots of speculation on where it all went wrong, the only real facts are that Wilder left the club in a much better position than it was on the day he arrived.

Hardly surprising in a thread called “Mixed Emotions”. It would have been more confusing if he’d have only put how disappointed he was or how delighted he was

I suppose everything is binary nowadays (except for gender, apparently, which is a whole other argument) so you can only be furious or pleased.
