I'm a Blade. I'm used to disappointment. I've been to Cardiff and lost. I've been to Wembley and lost 3 times. I've been to 4 semi-finals and lost.

What is it about this Clough bloke that makes me believe Sunday will be any different?

Whatever happens, this bloke is already the best we have had since Bassett. This is the best chance we have ever had.

If we lose yet again I will still believe we are on the way up. Bassett was a Cockney and we doubted him, but we grew to love him.. Nigel we loved you from Day 1. You were made for this club. Take us to the top. I revelled in the success of your father all that time ago. Maybe, just maybe, you can emulate him with us. In some ways it will be even more extraordinary than those days.

Mixed emotions? I didn't want to go the last 3 times, but I'm going yet again. As ever we go there without a striker

I know you're not allowed to say it on here but for me he still has a long way to go before he's equal to Warnock.

I know what you mean though, I don't think Clough will allow them to put in a limp dick performance on Sunday.

Was going to be my response too. Clough has done well in his first 6 months, and slightly superseded expectations. However, he still hasn't actually achieved anything yet.

I actually do think we will lose to be honest, but that's because we are up against Premier League opposition. On the other hand, if we had the playoff final on Sunday, I would be confident of not bottling it against a team in the same division. The problem is, due to difference in quality, we could play well on Sunday and lose. We also need Hull to not turn up AND us to put in a 10/10 performance, which is an unlikely combination of events. Never know though eh.

Yes you are. You just have, and I agree. Blokes done a brilliant job in 6 months, now if he gets us promoted then you can start drawing comparisons.

Actually I was not on a Warnock-bash, more on a Clough-love-in. Bassett was a blade icon, no question. Let's hope Clough can go a few steps higher. Warnock did well, but as a club we have to do so much better over a 7 year period. If Clough stays 7 years I would expect us to be established in the Pemiership, not just brief visitors. I hope he stays longer.

I aren't disputing that, but how this achievement can be compared to winning promotion to the Premier League is quite laughable. What NC has done is wonderful, can't take that away from him, but he has a heck of a long way to go to be called 'the best since Bassett'.

I agree , just disagreed with the posted comment hasnt achieved anything yet
taking a team that was bottom of division 3 in october to safety and a cup semi is an achievement

him taking us up from where we were was a very tall order, like trying to win a marathon in divers boots

Bleeding hell - do you even have to make that case? Only to the haters, not based on any reality.

We're all very happy with Mr Clough now - but that's more in expectation and hope than froth at a third division mid table finish - not that that is his fault.

Keep up the good work Nigel - we all hope you'll be the manager with no Blades' equal.

What he has done is give the fans and players belief. I look forward to going again. He has lifted the spirit of doom and gloom.sure he's won nothing yet, but he has achieved the goal he was set, avoid relegation. He's also thrown in a fantastic cup run, which may well end on Suday, but we are the blades of old again. Thank you Mr Cough.

The thing I like the most about Clough is the feeling that at last we have our next long term manager - finally the club can move forward with stability. Something that hasn't been there since Warnock. UTB - thanks Clough & the team for finally giving us a day out at Wembley that we can actually enjoy as well - no pressure let's all just have a great day & be proud of our great football club.

Or without any water en-route ;)

Blackwell took us to the richest club game in the world, and within one game of the PL.

...and to previously unchartered depths of miserable, mind-numbing, sterile, hoof and hope anti-football.

The buffoon should have been run out of town by a lynch mob or tarred and feathered publicly in the centre circle.

He was recently sacked by Bury and is now, as should always have been the case, unemployable.
