Can’t help but think the actions of these owners in the summer has put us back years.

Offloading Wilder to bring in a maverick along with the absolute shite they filled the squad with will take a while to fix.

But the football world isn’t going to wait for United to get their shit together.

This season was wide open. Coventry and Boro are top two; two teams we were better by 20+ points last year. Despite last night, Southampton have fallen well short of billing and so have Leicester. Add to that it took Ipswich a while to get going. Next season Wolves will come down with a much higher wage base. They’ll be followed by Burnley, likely with a better squad than when they left the Championship and the same promotion winning manager. West Ham will likely complete the trio; they don’t tend to mess around when they drop.

You then have heavily backed Birmingham and Wrexham who now have a foothold in the division who will no doubt spend again.

It was there for the taking and it’s hard to put into words the anger and frustratition of missing such a golden opportunity.

It could be years until stars align so well.

I think most of us were badly deflated after the playoff loss to Sunderland. More so because of our history too and to the point that we wanted change at the top or were at least indifferent should it happen.

It was a case of be careful of what you wish for though when you see the lack of quality in the league this season. If Wilder had stayed and if he had been able to reinforce well we could have run away with the league this time out.

It is what it is though and we can't fall back on 'ifs.' We're at the back to the drawing board stage whether we like it or not.

Cant think of a word that somes up this season without swearing ! ( cock up thats putting it mildly) we are back in trouble again and could easily be drawn into a relegation battle .
Looking at our next 3 matches we could be in the bottom 3 if we lose em all !Beleaf is draining away ! The nightmare start to the season is fresh in the players memory . The sending offs and latest injuries are disrupting us badly , we have a bloated squad but thin in some areas as the squad has players not up to championship level . 10 days to bring in a few players who can effect games in a positive way.
Forget play offs ! we have to get away from the trap door . I can remember on many occasions when we have messed up after looking comfortable.
COH'hope you realise the potential nightmare which could happen! Dont get cold feet now.

It was a very simple task indeed to get us into the top 2 this season, as it turns out

Keep the manager, sign the obvious players, go again

I think we'll still be talking about last summer with regret in 5 and maybe 10 years

It's going to be hard work from here on

We must start being astute again. No repeat of last summer or anything close to it is remotely acceptable

I was in that frame of mind the day they sacked Wilder and have been through all the stages of grief over the self inflicted gunshot to our head. It's a big hole they dug. We nearly climbed out but keep sliding back in just as we can touch the top of it.

Spot on

It's just been a perfect storm of stupid decisions and bad luck really, as it often is with us.

Wembley, a singular one match shafting by VAR. Moore deciding he preferred Sunderland to get promoted over us. All the chaos of the summer, with the managerial change and our dreadful recruitment. Coupled with the last couple of weeks where everything seems to have gone tits up just as we were really on a role as the form team in the division. Some dopey cunt has either failed to maintain the under soil heating, forgotten to check it, or not turned it on in time...whatever, but we lose the change to gain more points at a crucial time. Add to that a few injuries and perhaps avoidable suspensions to key players, with some embarrassingly bad performances, and we are where we are. Looking over our shoulders, when we should have been closing in on the top 6 for the run in.

Bar a few glorious seasons that I feel lucky to have witnessed, it's generally a bit of a slog following this club.

I love Wilder and think he's doing a decent job this time round, but must admit in the summer I was completely ambivalent about his sacking. Could've perhaps worked with a different manager, and decent recruitment, but Selles appointment never really felt that inspiring. Can slice it how you want about stats and club problems he was facing at previous jobs, but "bloke who finished 21st with Hull" is not exactly something to get excited about.
