Interesting post on another forum which i'd had thoughts of too over the weekend.

We have recently lost Derek Dooley and Bernard Proctor from behind the scenes at the Lane.

Now some will disagree but Dooley brought a wealth of experience of a lot of jobs within the club and it's gone on record how he helped Harry and Warnock throughout their time.

I never met Bernard but by most peoples accounts i've heard he was a Blade through and through, really cared about the football at the club and made sure it was high on all agendas.

Perhaps if McCabe's idea of a football general in terms of experience and direction was right at the time and may have helped Blackwell in his time at the Lane.

Wonder who he turns to for advice?

Do we still need someone to be brought in?

Think we need abit of experience on the field.

Especially now Ugo and Speed look to be out for the season.

Oh and an experienced manager aswell. :)

Interesting point SF

The Blades are woefully short of experienced and knowledgeable FOOTBALL people at BDTBL.

Before bringing any one in the clearout ought to begin.

PRIORITY NUMBER 1........ 'our terry' yes even before Blackwell gets the boot !, then Blackwell, Sam Ellis and the whole scouting team.

sack simon argall he is an absolute idiot. Operations Director.........more like operation directing relegation

So.....in a post about bringing experience in about team affairs you suggest sacking an operations man. Does he have anything to do with the football side then?

If not why the post?

Can I ask how exactly he's doing this? and how its so bad that you have to insult him on a public forum?

Given that his job has very little impact in what is going on on the pitch, I'd be interested to know how he's "directing relegation"?

So It's not Blackwell or McCabe's fault after all?

You have to laugh at times!

:D:D:D

Very valid point, SF. There needs to be someone at boardroom level with the football experience that Derek Dooley had. Not sure who that would be, but you've all experienced the wit and wisdom and a few the silky, nay sublime skills of these feet so if they come knocking, I'll do the job; even though I can't have the experience of SF who still remembers that big bloke up front, Goliath :D

Didn't McCabe say he was looking for someone with footballing history to sit on the board. Didn't Graham Taylor turn down such a role in the summer?

I've been dealing with Simon for a few years now, I think your comments are not justified in any way, the way he runs his part of the business (which has absolutely fuck all to do with the football side of the business in any way) has brought the club on and a much needed value and revenue into the club
