Missing character and a striker.

Coming to the end of the season and yet again we are left with no prolific goal scorer, just like the past 3 seasons the last hurdle we seem to be lacking up front.
Like last season Porter being the only viable striker, 2 seasons before chasing promotion to the prem, we had Craig Beattie of all people the lone striker. how do we get our-self in these situations each year.
but yeah the team does lack a lot of character, united use be all about character but it seems be be drained, Doyle is just terrible captain, Mcmahon is just a hot headed fool at times, Colins and the rest are just to quiet. we have no confidence to attack at home, its just a really shame.
I do miss the days when we had Derick Geary, Chris Morgan , even Kozzy just passionate, commit players. just what i think we need right now and Blackman back also be nice .
what ever happens this season, we need to be more prepared, and find these passionate players that can get a team motivated and run at the defense.
... edit its just what i miss in games nowadays. just my 2 pennies worth!

I'd add MK Dons and Stevenage to the mix where he's also been poor. I can't comment on the Tranmere game but its been quite a while since I've seen him play remotely well.

We need to play Jamie Murphy up fornt and get a LM and a RM (Like Quinn and Ward). To get a better CB than Collins we need to get a player from a bigger club that isn't in the first XI on loan maybe a young player a bit like Harry Maguire but just a bit faster.

A better centre half than Neill Collins would be playing alongside Collins, not instead of him. Maguire's positioning is often down to Collins' communication.

Collins's only weaknesses are a lack of pace and an inability to direct headers. If he had either he'd be a good championship defender; both and he'd probably still be at Sunderland.

I'd add MK Dons and Stevenage to the mix where he's also been poor. I can't comment on the Tranmere game but its been quite a while since I've seen him play remotely well.

He did have a good game at Tranmere, was strong and won almost every header in a Shipperley/Chief-like manner, i.e. just standing where the ball was dropping with the defenders unable to move him. As he was poor a couple of days later vs Carlisle it may be a sign that his fitness is not good enough for him to play all our remaining games.
