Boro and Watford both knocked out, free of an unwanted distraction

We go through, giving ourselves another problem

But to be fair, it would have been difficult to do anything but win this one

The draw will be made on Sunday 8 January (16:05 GMT), live on BBC One in the UK, ahead of the all-Premier League tie between Manchester City and Chelsea across town at the Etihad Stadium.

Yet more humble pie to consume.

I could have easily understood a narrow defeat to Millwall today, but no, attitude and a little strength in depth demonstrated instead.

So, an Newcastle FA4 away day please with a quarter of the stadium packed with celebrating Blades at full-time 😉

Or a quarter of Swillsbrough filled with bouncing Blades?

why would a game between two championship teams be broadcast on TV?
Why would two league 2 teams be broadcast on multiple sky sports channels today, Salford v Northampton?

Why would sutv not have the rights but Millwalls equivalent do?

So many questions….

Not really a problem if we decide to use it to give the second string a run out is it, got to be better than reserve football for the younguns

Good win in conditions that turned into terrible. Rested a few and it was quite easy, bar a couple of moments, in the end. Moved the ball around very well first half and deserved to be ahead. Held on while still creating opportunities.

Davies - 7 - Solid. Very good positioning for a couple of low crosses and good block. Looked comfortable.
Stevens - 7 - Great ball to Sharp and got forward well and had a couple of shot. arguably should have had a penalty as well. It was a bit of a struggle defensively with Ese keeping him busy.
Robinson - 6 - Looked a second away from a rick a few times but generally pretty good. Covered well once when others got pulled across.
Egan - 6.5 - Solid
Basham - 6 - Mixed. Rusty, as you'd expect. Bit sloppy with the ball on a few occasions but also made a few good interceptions
Bogle - 7.5 - Lively. Not always sure he knows what he's going to do next but a nightmare to defend against. Got lucky for the goal but good game.
Doyle - 7 - Ok. bit slow on occasions and made a few errors but noticeably getting back better. Great first time assist for the goal.
Norwood - 6 - One of his quieter games
McAtee - 7 - Looked lively first half and made lots of runs. Seemed to disappear a bit second half.
Ndiaye - 7 - Lots of energy and work. And an assist. Tireless and always a threat.
Jebbo - 7 - Took his goal really well and put a great sliding tackle in just before that. Looked lively and whilst a few bounced off him, did ok. Good to have another option up there.

Subs:

Sharp - 6.5 - Did well when he came on. Should have done better after rounding the keeper though after great control and first touch.
Berge - 5.5 - Didn't really seem to get involved at either end.
Baldock - Added fresh legs with Enda tiring
Coulibaly - didn't really see the ball
Brooks - I really like the look of Brooks. Gets involved and is a bit of a handful.

Hecky - 7 - Rested a few but made fewer changes than many called for. Ended up nullifying Millwall first half and taking our chances. It was a bit more hard work in the second half, especially with the weather, but fairly comfortable.

Millwall - I expected more really but I think we nullified them.

We can be successful in both cup and league. We have done it before and not that long ago.
Oh absolutely I think we have the capability to take on some prem teams too it's more that I just don't want to. I have little interest in the cups and I don't want any energy or players expended because of it.

The lads move on to the next round though so good on them! Nice to see Jebbo and Bogle bagging goals too.

always happy to progress into the #facup 4th rd. great 1st half as 2-0 was completely deserved, it was best half we've played likely since Burnley, i wouldve been a bit weaker but hecky pick a very good line up & he took a risk it paid off

delighted for jebbison, as i was worried for his development recently as i was expecting more of that as Been nearly 2 yrs since he burst on to the scene

now anyone as its not from our league

I don't think we should only prioritise the league this season. Absolutely buzzing to win today and can't wait for the draw tomorrow. Let's give it all in both, it's looking great. We have a really good squad. Who knows about next season after all.

Amendment: FA rules indicate a maximum of 15% of capacity. And even that is subject to approval of local council/services. ☹️

So that’d mean circa 8k away supporters at Newcastle and around 12k at Man U.

Or 750 at Accrington Stanley!

Well done united ,you were good value for your win , though it was much more competitive 2nd half all we really did was make you work a little harder , don't knock your own victory , we are really solid at home and till yesterday at least had the best defensive record in the division , the league game might produce a similar result but it will be a different game ,with at least 4 changes , we are all pessimists at millwall 3 top half finishes and some good signings most think we are more likely to make the play offs than not , from what I've seen of you and what I saw yesterday ,your not stopping and no one is going to emerge from the pack and challenge you or Burnley , we just did the double over Watford without breaking sweat at their ground and they would have been most peoples choice pre season for an automatic, good luck for the rest of the season , and hope those that went yesterday all got home safe

There's nothing we enjoy more than knocking our own victories!
