We sold out?
Didn't think we would given there were a few hundred available the other day.

Hare or Dev?

Be careful, a wrong answer could cost you your life.

I'm not actually from Dore mate. Used to have a mate there tho and went boozing but I can't remember name of place to be honest.

Yes, whenever I take mates who support other clubs to The Den they are always pleasantly surprised to find out that we won't have to be argueing with the stewards or other fans about sitting together because of some silly seat number rule. Credit to the club, they put this in place almost straight after moving in 1993 - I think they & the police realised it would be a losing battle trying to get Millwall fans, used to standing where they liked with family & friends for decades, to all sit like good little boys and girls in exactly the correct seat number.

Although, I was shocked to find out from a Watford supporting mate that they even sit in the correct seats for away games - after I asked him what the hell he was doing at Wycombe away once, when he was telling a few Wall fans that they were in 'his' seat. They looked at him like he had lost his mind. I explained that at Millwall away games it's literally first come, first served - want a good view? Better get there early and stake it out! However, that's Watford fans for you - I'd imagine Palace, Charlton and Reading are the same!

This is how it should be for away games.

The whining we see about 'loyalty points stopping me sitting with my fwends' would be a thing of the past.

I get the impression at our away games it's a bit of both. Many accept the unofficial sit where you want policy but many insist on going to their seat.

At least we don't sit down anymore though so I can't complain too much.

Is it hard getting to Millwall away games, do the home clubs impose lots of restrictions on how the tickets are sold? I always get the impression you have quite strong hard core support. How many did you take to Fulham last weekend? Did they open the neutral end for you?

All Millwall away games are members only and all-ticket and have been since 2002. You need to give all your details, a passport photo and proof of address to become a member. This has damaged our away support, especially north of Watford, because you can no longer just wake up and decide to go. I remember going to places like Lincoln City and taking 1,000 when we were struggling at the wrong end of what is now League One, just because a rumour went up they were planning a special welcome for us. It's killed that.

However, every season we average 8-12% of our home support on the road - which is always one of the top ratios in the Football League (source the FL website). We are currently averaging 1,424 fans away. Not bad considering those restrictions, plus having faced Preston, Sunderland and Wednesday (on a Tuesday) away. That's nearly 12% of the home support following us away. To compare, I doubt reading are averaging 2,056 away & certainly wouldn't if all their games were members only & all-ticket. Derby would need to average 3,159 away to match our ratio. How many would they take if all-ticket & member only.

We took 3,395 to Fulham - the official allocation. They did not give us the neutral end, but Millwall fans were also in it, c.2,000+

Looking forward to the trip Saturday always a good one .a few shandys with the friendly locals . 3 points and a nice sleep home on the train .

Ha

Have you tried Megabus website plus you can always still get the train although it is 75 quid adult return.
I was taking 2 junior blades with me so have to ensure it is safest and least hassell option, thanks anyway. ;)

Went to The Den season for the first time. About 600 Blades down there for a nice and sunny day in the capital but with an utterly shite result. 90th minute pen, bottom of the league.
It'll be a bit busier this time I'm sure. There was no trouble last time just because there wasn't many Blades there an no-one was in a fighting mood, just a wrist slitting mood. Hope it's a nice clean 0-1 win with no controversy.

I missed last season due to a family wedding (who gets married during the season), so cant comment, but the season before we took a decent following from memory, someone will be able to look up how many we took.
We had to wait ages to get on the station after the game so someone nicked a coppers helmet a had a game of volleyball with it.
I think he got nicked for it though.

1,167 Blades went to the fixture in 2015/16.

I was at Wembley for the Swindon vs Millwall play-off final, 44,000 Millwall fans there. Millwall won 1:0. There was a bit of trouble, but overall nothing bad, could have been different if Swindon had won. We had a great time in London after the game, excellent day out.
I have only been to the Old Den (twice) 1970s & 80s, not yet done the new Den.

I think you have missed a coupl of zeros of that.

Everybody knows how massive Wendy are and it is well known fact that they take at least 10k everywhere. If the gate was about 9,000 I'd expect at least 11,000 of them to be our deluded city rivals.

It's funny isn't it, they think of themselves as this huge club.

Yet to us Millwall fans they've never brought more than 1,400 ever to The Den, not even in the top tier & we've played them very regularly in the last 17 years - yet I would guess that they think we are a small club. Even though we have played in Europe and a FA Cup Final more recently than them & have been their divisional peers for two decades!

Thank the football gods we won that day - because it meant I could finally watch the best goal ever scored at Wembley from the year before when we lost 3-2 to Scunthorpe United (Gary Alexander's volley). Now that was surreal, 49,661 Lions fans in stunned silence as 7,000 Scunny fans danced with joy in a tiny corner of Wembley!

You took 5,395 + to Fulham ?
They had 12,589 in ground ?

It's called 'Millwall flu'. Not only do teams not bring many to us, we put off many floating fans off attending their own ground when we are in town.

Fulham are averaging 18,885 this season, yet the gate v us for a London derby was below that.

However, I did say circa 2,000 in the neutral end, I cannot say for sure tho. But I doubt many saw we were in town and decided to buy a ticket for that end and it did appear all Wall, I know as I had to buy a ticket in that end.

We do take big followings to London games & always sell out. I remember when Palace gave us the whole Arthur Wait in 2001-02 and we took the full 7,000 - despite averaging 13,500 that season home. Meaning over 50% of home fans went.

Remember though, in London we have the tube - it's no hassle hoping over to the likes of Fulham. I honestly don't think it's that unlikely that 2,000 came along with the 3,395 official allocation. It did seem rammed over there with lots of Millwall faces. Seemed a bit of a jolly up. And it's not that unlikely that some of Fulham's floating support gave it a miss - you may have noticed, but they are quite genteel over in Fulham. Also, they do not have a particulary large hardcore support, they just get a lot of floating fans these days.

Yep, we had the whole stand too, we took 9,000  2009 I think, missed out on a play off place. What a shit hole it was too, I do like the old stadiums, but not crumbling. Charlton is a great ground to visit.

Indeed, Selhurst Park is just a shithole. Always has been. Surrounded by bland south London surburbia too.

We only got 7,000, as they cordoned off both ends - they obviously trusted you not to slap their silly Ultras.

My uncles and grandad were in the biggest ever 4th tier crowd in world football, until Rangers beat it, when 37,774 turned up on Good Friday 1961 at Selhurst Park, boosted by 12,000 odd from Millwall.

I quite like the away stand at Selhurt Park, real old shithole, but, yes, the surrounding area is a total dump.

Automatic. Wasn’t it Birmingham that pipped us to it? Craig Beattie had a wretched game – we never looked like scoring.
