I've a bulgarian mate who's well into his football.

He says Septembri have a fantastic youth network, the issue is the bulgarian league lacks physicality and athleticism and that will be the biggest issue for their players.

Has to be development player. Imagine being Sam Curtis and there's some Bulgarian no-name already ahead of you in the pecking order.
Aye
Equally imagine being “some Bulgarian no -name” and being told you’re not as good as Sam Curtis (another “development player who is yet to significantly’develop’) by someone who has never seen you play (& can’t be arsed to refer to you by name)
“Imagine” that indeed.

Meant no disrespect towards Polendakov. But Curtis is a year older and he must feel that he deserves a chance now.

Or perhaps the club have realised that Curtis won't make it at Championship level so they're looking beyond him by signing Polendakov.

From what (little) I’ve seen & heard (from attending a St Johnstone game) & read from Peterborough fans he’s not (yet?) ready - surely he only “deserves” a chance when he demonstrates or is deemed ‘good’ enough irrespective of of his age

In fairness to Curtis Peterborough should have been the perfect fit. He's an attack minded right back and Peterborough are a team that play fast attacking football. They also had a team of young up and coming players who were developing into a great team. It should have been the exact move Curtis needed to push on and develop.

After the play off defeat it all seemed to go wrong. They lost Mason-Clarke after he went back to Coventry. They lost Burrows to us then they lost Poku for a lengthy spell to injury and they sold Randall and Edwards. They ended up at the wrong end of the table so the move turned out to not be so great for Curtis who started bright then struggled.
