Bladesman said:Makelele is a quality midfield player Mikele isnt and is as bad as Monty. Unlucky with injuries yes but still is nothing special when fit.

SensibladeWorldOfSoccer said:Although Monty hasn't performed for lots of this season I thought he was brilliant against the Arse (Which no-one seems to have mentioned (I may be wrong but can't be arsed to look).
I think a lot of our central midfielders haven't performed upto what they can this season.
They all need to improve and i'm sure NW will have told them as much.
Hopefully if we do get a new central player then it will inspire the rest to perform to a higher standard.
ifill syndrome.........

people are going to have different views on players because of memories. When a player has one bad or good performance a person will create an opinion on that player and stick to it no matter how good or crap they play in other games. So where someone might think mikele is great others will think he is crap.
Hope that made sense

Like the other day one of my uncles was talking about montgomery (who he really doesn't like) on how fantastic he played against arsenal but should definately be dropped for the boro game because he's still not good enough. Couldn't believe the words coming out of his mouth-how can you drop a player from the side who's just played brilliant against arsenal.
Maybe because the style of game we played against Arsenal was perfect for Montgomery? Many Blades believe Dave Bassett was the best manager we have ever had and he was a strong advocate of "horses for courses" as opposed to giving players the shirt and it's up to them to lose it. I reckon there's pros and cons to both methods and although Warnock has only recently started to employ a bit of Bassett's model, I think it's good for the club not to be picking a team totally on sentiment. Admittedly he probably got it wrong against 'Boro but at this level, when every single point is important to our survival, we have to pick the right player for the right job.The One said:i judge the player on the performance on the day.
