Yeah but he played the same CM's against forest..... surely then he could have seen the mistake.

Robbo worried me a bit by saying Monty has a lot to offer in an attacking role and has goals in him. I guarantee he doesn't. If he gets one goal a season, great. Anything more would shock me. I just wonder what Kidd has be telling him. Also, regarding Hendrie, I thought he did ok and we should remember his pre-season consisted mainly of training on his own in a park. We have to give him time - he showed some good touches and a bit of creativity and I thought he got better as the game went on probably peaking just before he was taken off.

I reckon Leggy had a decent game and looked to have a couple of stingers up his sleeve from the edge of the box. Don't think it's anywhere enough to keep Tonge out though.

I also reckon Keef did better when he moved in-field and allowed Del to get up more. And did anyone else think Keef's corners were rubbish?

If you cast your mind back to when Monty broke onto the scene, he was a pacey midfielder/winger who ran at players and could beat a man or two. Saw him cut in from the wing a few times beating a man and scoring. For a while he was billed as the better prospect out of Tongey, Jags etc

Perhaps he's been allowed more of a roaming/attacking role on the training ground? Being the type of player Robbo was and has been around, he should be well placed to spot potential in that department.

Leggy did have a better game than many are making out, he saw a lot of the ball again as the tactic of creating space for a "holding" midfielder seems to continue. Still think an on form Tonge should be starting though. He looked like he had a bit more hunger about him and as if he wanted to try to keep his place.

Del is an absolute legend, agree about Gillespies corners, it's dissapointing because he has such a good cross on him when he wants to!

Jags also used to be a right-back but when we tried him their last season he was pretty poor. Monty did used to be an ok attacking midfielder but it's pretty clear he gets a bit panicky in front of goal after several years in a more defensive role.

Can somebody explain to me why Leggy is the one getting all the stick and Monty is getting off with bugger all?

Leggy played well, Monty was embarrasing. I still dont think neither are good enough but Leggy deserves to start the next game over Monty.

yeah leggy actually played well on saturday made his tackles and palyed short succesful passes, thats his job and he did it well,he should start over monty next game.

I thought Leggy was our best player by far in the first half. The way the team is playing creates a lot of space for the position he played although he didn't do as well in the second half.

I've said the same mate, people are using Leigertwood as a scapegoat and it's a joke.

Monty was atrocious on Saturday and he needs to improve to keep his place.

Yeah i agree with you too, he surprised me!

Monty was his usual Saturday i thought. He did well and got stuck in breaking play up, but his distribution was poor.

Question was put on P&G, and Robson said he thought Monty could play a more attacking role than most people think, and could get goals going forward.:shakehead:

He also said at the same time that 'he was still learning'. Monty going forward ......... hmmmmm ..........

We'd just got to the Norton as he came on Praise Or Grumble, so we decided to listen in the car.

I'd forgotten how monotonous his voice is.

maybe robbo picks both of them due to the fact that he feels we are not quite strong enough in defence? that is the only logic to selecting both holding midfielders to me, he could be using them as a form of insurance which maybe would allow him to select more creative wide players, after all offence wins games but defence wins championships!

Yeah but by doing that, we are not going to be strong in attack either.

After Last night i would give carney a run impressed me a lot!

my midfield on saturday would be a diamond i think.

leggy
hendrie tonge
stead

think steady could do avery good job in the hole feeding passes to the front two and pickig up rebounds.
