I agree.

Thought Liegertwood played well though to be honest. Not a fan of his, and was unhappy to see him in the team, but he proved me wrong.

tonge leggy hendrie carney

will do me

get tongey back out on the left, thats where he had his best season for us and im confident under robbo he can do that again, which allows hendrie to move inside

Hendrie looked clueless on the left wing if you ask me.

I disagree he played there majority of the time for stoke got a few goals and assists!

I didnt think he was too bad at all

He may have done well for Stoke out there, but today he did nothing in that position,

I don't think Hendrie played too bad out wide but I would rather see him playing central.

I've never criticised leggy because he's had half decent games when i've seen him. I thought he started well today but definatly faded off later on making a few mistakes and fouling often. but we had Monty and Leggy trying to play against their "natural" game and attack and create which didn't suit them.

Also monty should change his boots/studs:)

Wouldnt say he was great by any means.

He is however getting some stick that he doesnt deserve, Monty was far far far worse than Leggy.

Ive said it before and I will keep on saying it, NEITHER are good enough. You cannot have a central midfielder who is incapable of passing a football.

Monty overall is better than Leggy, but he needs to be with a ball playing midfield next to him.

Keef-Monty-Hendrie-Tonge

I thought that leggy started very well. he then made a few mistakes and the crowd started to get on his back; from then on he didn't want the ball anymore and whenever he had it he seemed to lack confidence.

I am still bemused as to why, at home against an average ccc side, that we played 2 deffensive central middies. The lack of creativity in the first period was criminal, the same problem we have had for the past 4 seasons and yet it is no closer to being addressed!

I thought keef played very well and Hendrie did his best to up the tempo but with nobody in the middle to dictate the play we never created enough openings and as a result; the most gifted strike force in the league were left to feed off scraps.

Could anyone who listened to the radio let me know if the question was put to Robbo as to why he played 2 deffensive midfielders, and if so what his response was.

i would put hendrie into the middle with monty. Armstrong on the left.

I agree there.

Id go with that midfield aswell.

Question was put on P&G, and Robson said he thought Monty could play a more attacking role than most people think, and could get goals going forward.:shakehead:

Armstrong i thought today missed a great chance to have a shot on the edge of the area

because he will not use his right foot at all!

Thanks for this, although his response worries me if he thinks that Monty offers anything in the way of creativity.

I like the lads workrate and his ability to break up play, but his ability on the ball is woeful. Leigertwood offers more creativity and that is saying something.

Oh well, the new day has offered me fresh perspective; west brom, charlton and southampton all failed to win too.

Rome was not built in a day.

Last season I thought Leggy was, to put it mildly, bobbins.
However on saturday I thought he played well, but in central midfield we need a combination of spoiler and creator. Monty and Leggy are too similar in their styles of play to link together, but if Robbo and Kidd can transform Monty into an atticking midfielder then good luck to him. I think he's got more chance of turning base metals into gold though.
The midfield needs a balance, pairing Monty or Leggy with Tonge or Hendrie seems to be the best options. I'd go with Tonge in the middle and Hendrie on the left wing.

To be fair to Robson he did say after the game he made a mistake by picking Monty and Leigertwood in the middle of the park, I like the fact that he admits his mistake.

People shouldn't forget that he's still on a learning curve for his best eleven, because we didn't play good enough opposition in pre-season to give us a proper test.

It will come in time :)
