It's a boring trip to a boring place :)

We got there particularly early on new years day one season, to find most of Middlesbrough closed.
I couldn't agree more but Middlesbrough is now closed on weekdays also apart from Tesco's ect so that the locals can still steal their food and drink for the week!!. .

Boro fans strike me as a decent, passionate bunch generally, and I wanted them to stay up.

They must be gutted to be coming straight back down after spending all that time knocking on the door to get back up. They were thereabouts for 7/8 years near the top of the Championship, and now they've gone back down with a wimper.

I'd much rather them be a yo-yo club than shite like Hull and Reading, who I hope find their way back to the 3rd division.

I expected them to stay up this season, it surprised me how Karanka seemed to struggle. They should be near the top yet again next season but they need to make sure they appoint a decent manager. Leadbitter, Clayton and Forshaw won't be going anywhere so they'll at least have that to build from again.

I always found the Boro suporters to be quite unpleasant but I am looking forward to see how we do against them on the pitch, they will be strong in the Championship but I don't see them as nailed on for the autos.

My grandfather came from Middlesborough and I have vivid memories of him going on about "The Boro ". (In those days they were the only
club to have two players in the England team - George Hardwick, the England captain, and Wilf Mannion the inside-right.) So I always had a
soft spot for Boro and their fans even though I have never been to the town.

That was until September 2006 when United were about to play them at the Lane during our Premier League season. I read in a paper then
that a Boro fan - presumably, a man - had said, "Sheffield United shouldn't be in the Premier League". Totally insignificant though that was, I never forgot it and every time I see that Middlesborough have lost a game I say to myself, "That fellow from Middlesborough is hurting today."

They will be in the top two next year. They have the squad for it already. Just need to appoint a half decent manager.

Nowt against Boro , who are a proper football club , proper fans , and a younger McCabe as chairman ( with more sense ) . They will not go up but be in a transition period a bit like Villa , but will not throw money around .

Who they get as manager , contract lengths , salaries will have a major bearing .

Looking good for us IMO , but again recruitment is the key .

That proper football club lost a hell of a lot of support when relegated from the premier league a few years back. Not sure what the attendance was the last time we visited the Riverside, but there were a hell of a lot of empty seats.

Gibson, Clayton, Downing, Branford etc. They will walk it I think.

They are very confused up in smoggyland..talk to the locals and they all claim to come from yorkshire, it is a shithole..redcar is even worse...when i lived up that way there was a inquest into the spend per person who visited redcar..It was something like 1,75, the cost of a lemontop..
Then you have places like loftus and guisbourough, both the land time forgot, and the ultimate which is skinningrove...oh dear me.

I always found the Boro suporters to be quite unpleasant

I had a mate who was a steward on the Leppings Lane. He always said the worst sets of fans were Millwall and Boro and that even the women from Smogland were impossible to deal with.

Of any of the 'big' sides, they have always struck me as the most part time. Manyoo come to town and the Riverside sells out but when a lowly side came they'd struggle to get 20k. I notice they've been better this season, but just keep an eye on their attendances next season if they aren't near the top.
