Middlesbrough Promoted - Baptiste a Blade?

Season long loan is a slim chance but more likely he would be snapped up by a top end Championship side.

Pretty sure someone said their mate had heard that if this happened then Baptiste would be staying.

I was told it was realistic when he signed. I asked Adkins at the u21 match vs Ipswich at the Lane - he said as much.Quite a few blades overheard and someone posted the same on blades mad.

Boro will need better players than what Baptiste can offer - even as cover.

I would expect boro's existing CH to be the cover next season with others possibly brought into play as first choice.

Depends what his agent wants for him as he is still under contract at boro.

We need to restructure players and wages - both downwards.

In a way it all depends what formation Adkins wants to play - we haven't seen Baptiste in a 4 at the back either - only in a 3 CH situation.

Adkins HAS to get 3,4 or 5 key players, and for me it's all in the spine of the team.

2 x CH (absolute must and not including Edgar) - 1 or 2 Centre mid and 1 up top.

I'd be surprised if he weren't looking at clubs a level higher. On the other hand we've made a couple of signings in Sharp and Brayford that seemed unrealistic financially. Both of those had personal reasons to want to be here and Baptiste seems less likely to be swayed by the lure of being a Blade. Would be a very good signing based on what I've seen. He's got a bit of class on the ball compared to our other defenders but more importantly he's primarily a stopper, and we definitely need someone like that.

Boro's centre halves are their strength and will be starters next season. Will they want to sign other defenders as cover? They could easily choose to keep Baptiste, as he can also play right back.

Even if we do manage to sign him we'll also need at least one more CB, two if we want to carry on with 3-5-2. If he's costly then that'd make it difficult to get two other good ones (eg. Dan Burn and Aaron Pierre) and we might have to reconsider.

Best chance we've got is if he gets a bad knock and his parent club needs him to get minutes under his belt at a mid table club were passion is lacking so he doesn't aggravate his injury.

Hope we can get him in on a years loan.
As for boro I don't know why I hate them so much

I hope so, he was a class act compared to most of our defence, could be our main man next season.
