From The People.......

Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate is preparing a move for Sheffield United target man James Beattie to solve his club's striker crisis.

The News of the World are predicting he will be sacked after the next 2 matches unless they win them though.

id have maybe swapped BT for viduka and yakubu and £10million but other than that, bollocks.

Lets hope he gets the sack before he makes a bid then. :)

thing is, why would he want to go? if our forms keeps improving like it has done then we're going to be in a much better position in terms of having something to play for later in the year than Boro. All he's gonna get there is a relegation fight

hands off our BT

Awww your going green with envy DJ ... Id get that seen to fooooool!

Hmmmm, hardly envy, just saying i very much doubt he would choose you, over a premiership club like Boro

Middlesborough might be shite, and only one place out of relegation and 2 points clear at the moment, however, they won't go down

Once Southgate has gone (which wont be long), they will get a decent manager, and will slowly climb there way up the table

Ok, they may be a boring club, but they are in the premiership, and can offer more than what you can, including better wages, better facilities and much higher class manager and players around him

So, we are on the assumption that it is Gareth Southgate who is ready to put in the offer for Beattie as Silverfox posted, correct?

Why would Beattie go to Boro with the possibility (as you have posted) that Southgate will be gone soon, for a new manager who (you again say) will get them to climb up the table, albeit slowly, although there is a good chance they could be in a relagation fight come the end of the season. He could possibly, and most likely keep the team up with the players that are already at the club.

I know nothing of the facts when it comes to wages, however, I would suspect Beattie is on a nice earner here with a good bonus package for goal scoring. Yes, prem' wages are better, but if he has commited himself to playing at a lower level for a season to get his form back then he will surely one way or the other, be in the prem' next season and back up to a prem' wage.

I'm sure he'll stay, his form is great at the moment, he seems comfy in the squad and will have a good partner and/or competition once Hulse is back in full flow for the team.

Even for a pig, that's a load of shit.

End of the day, he's a premiership striker, who will score goals wherever

He's a striker you would hate to play against, but love to have in your team

Why is he at you? Because no premiership club were prepared to take a gamble on him.

You had the money to throw about and you looked the best option to come straight back up when relegated.

You have had a shite start to the season, admitedly your picking up now, and probably will end up in the playoff's, which i don't think you will win, but that's for a different thread later in the season :D

End of the day, there will be (should be) numerous premiership clubs snffing about for him come January, and all im saying is i can't see him turning one of these down, giving him more money, better club and a higher class of player around him

Quite different from just Middlesborough to 'numerous premirship clubs' sniffing around him. I agree with you there may well be a good number of clubs looking at him for a january buy, just in this case I don't think (or at least hope not) it will be Boro.

Thanks,

Great contribution and well put forward

Unlike your usual glowing contributions, you mean?

If you think that Middlesborough - who have probably reached their potential if their attendances and standing in the world of football are anything to go by - are a more attractive proposition than us for anything other than Premiership football at the moment, you're clearly even more deluded than your choice of football team would suggest.

It must be painful to you to see us rise head and shoulders above you even when going through a mini-crisis of our own, but try not to be too bitter, son.
