No one is questioning his logic in wanting to better his earnings mic, but your argument is that myself and len are wrong in stating that Warnock cares about no.1 far more than he does about United.....which seems quite an apparent fact to me.

I dont have any problem with Warnock having higher personal and financial priorities than United. Now he isnt manager I could care even less! But when someone tries to tell me he is a massive Blade and loves us more than anyone I wont have it.....its nonsense.

I never said he cant be pleased for himself or look after his family....whatever....but the way he talks about the club now (simply because of his relationship with McCabe) is not what I would see as something that comes from a true Blade. The man has a massive ego and that goal would have meant more to his ego/wallet than it would to any love he has for SUFC.

Let's get this straight steel because it's really winding me up that a time when the club is in a deep shitstorm, you are slating a manager who got us 92 points because he isn't a True Blade.

I assume the Hull goal meant alot to you. That's the important thing. Maybe in prem he got slightly obsessed with a new contract but you say above that looking after family is important.

I think you are saying that he has to say sweet things about McCabe, the man who wouldn;t know what a football manager looked like if one smacked him in the face.

I aint saying he is a massive Blade and have never said he cares more about Utd than his own career - why would he? No-one would. Just said that goal meant a hell of alot to him for the right reasons, ie not immediate fiscal ones - the rewards quite rightly would come better CV etc, better earning capacity. He desperately wanted to get Utd promoted to enhance his earnings etc yes but this started with len suggesting Adams would somehow react differently and reading between the lines turn a big bonus down, work for less money etc.

Born and bred Sheffield United, boyhood supporter and still a self-confessed Sheffield United. Never had the opportunity to serve the club he loves, but will understand the club, what its all about, what the supporters want.

Has served his managerial apprenticeship with Fulham and Brighton achieving promotion and being the catalyst for both teams moving up the Divisions. Took a skint Leicester from the Championship to the Premiership at the first attempt.

Has been managing and doing well in his current role by turning an poor Port Vale side in to League Leaders.

Has knowledge of the lower divisions, and should be able to bring in some quality players at cheap prices.

Has the knowledge and experience to pull together an average but underperforming squad of players together and to get the most of them.

Has experience of working under financial pressure and delivering results.

Ticks a lot of boxes for me.

Robbie - who knows? Though I do recall McCabe was rumoured to have made big promises to him (unfulfilled ones apparently) at the time and that Portsmouth were deep in the brown stuff.

You've slated him by basically saying in so many words that the goal against Hull immediately sent £ signs flashing in his head which to me is grossly unfair, especially when TV would suggest otherwise.

If I were a manager that got 92 points and got promoted very, very easily I'd feel pretty chuffed about it, not least because I'd hopefully make alot of money out of it.

Just assure me you aren't saying I said that he's a massive Blade that loves the club more than anything else? If you're saying Adams is a bigger Blade than warniock then probably yes but let's see what happens if multi-millions are at stake and when Mickey gets us 92 points and wants a bonus etc.

I can't agree with this, he gets offered the chance to go to Portsmouth, a PL club, reportedly offering over double his wages etc, turns them down and he is still seen in a bad light for it.

What Century are you in. Everyone passes the college course, they have to get you through else it hits their numbers and they get in trouble. Therefore they hand hold you through it all.

My point on Mickey Adams is that we can look to him in a few years if he proves himself at Vale, plays good football and get them up with us.
Because he is a Blade he would join us at any point, unless he was in the Premiership.

Don't think Adams would be a disaster but is he the man to stamp a proper footballing culture on the club, from top to bottom?
Can't argue that he wouldn't be up for getting stuck into the job but if it's going to be Battling Blades and the Blades Way again you can guarantee many more fans are off out the door.
It doesn't work long term and it's had its time as United's tired old stereotype.

I can see Adams endearing himself with the fans and giving it his all - and he has got more than decent experience.
But for me, the bigger statement about the club's future would still be SOD.

Well.... whatever we feel about them not being deducted points, the current system that is used of being deducted 10 points, would not have been sufficient to give us that second spot.

Who knows? If you simply deduct 10 points from their final total, then no it wouldn't have been enough.

But, had the current rules been in operation at that time, Leicester would have started with minus 10 points. If that had been the case I doubt very much that they would have performed as well as they did. Also, with 10 points less, we would have been ahead of them for much of the season. Would we have then fielded a reserve side against Wimbledon (a match that we lost)? And perhaps had we been ahead of, or closer to them we might have been more up for it and got something out of other matches that we lost (eg away at Watford and Preston).

I don't think it's as easy as just deducting 10 points. A ten point penalty (and who's to say it might not have been more?) at the start of the season could well have hade a dramatic effect on both them and us.

Brownie, I agree with all of the above. Micky Adams would not be a bad choice. However, as pointed out by others on this thread, I think that there is a better choice. Adams would turn us around, but I feel him to be very much a Warnock style manager. I think Warnock is a legend and love what he did for the club. Howerver I feel that time has passed. I feel O'Driscoll could take the club a stage further than Warnock did and Adams did. I think he could turn us around, take us to the Prem and keep us there. He could turn our club into a real footballing side. A team exciting to watch, not just hard to beat, but a team that plays exciting, attacking football. Look at what he built at Donny with very little.

Don't get me wrong, I like Adams. And if SOD wasn't available I'd be fairly happy to take him. You can see from Vlae fans comments that he is highly rated and has a decent track record witrh Fulham and Leicester. However, I feel SOD could wake a sleeping giant. We have a great fan base, great stadium, brilliant academy system and good set up. People will moan, but we have the basis of a great club. The only thing that is missing is the manager and the team. In my opinion, O'Driscoll is the lonbg term answer. The man to use the acdemy, build a team over a few seasons, move us away from this hard to beat/rough em up/'direct' style team, take us to the prem and keep us there.
