Very sadly Mick passed away on Saturday night after a long illness. At least it was peaceful and ended a period of steady deterioration over the past seven months. A true son of the Blades family, Mick was a regular on Shred’s magical mystery tours as well as a regular at Shirecliffe and Stocksbridge watching the next generations coming through. A Blade for over fifty years, he leaves a massive gap in the lives of his nearest and dearest. The funeral will be at Hutcliffe Wood Crematorium on Tuesday, September 24th. at 1:15 pm. All are welcome to attend. Thanks. UTB. Posted by his brother.

Sorry for your loss. RIP Mick.

Many Blades of my generation did Shred's mystery tours. The stuff of legend ....... so many stories and memories that last a life time. I didn't know Mick by name, but I am sure I will have had many a pint with him over the years. That was the thing about Shred's tours, it didn't matter who you were, you were a Blade, so part of the group. I wasn't a regular by any means, I probably did on average 6 or 7 a season over about a 30 year period.

RIP Blade. Give Shred a great big man hug when you see him.

RIP Mick. I used to work with mick at the works department. Had many chats about the blades. A true blade.

All the best Blade. Wherever you may be.

Under the assumption that's you Eric. I heard on Sunday. So sad to hear mate. Best I've got is - we will always remember Mick fondly, one of the gentle good guys. You take care.
Phil....

Whilst I did not know Mick, I am sorry to hear this sad news.

Condolences to family and friends.

Another sad loss.

As others have said I don't know Mick by name, but if he was one of Shreds crew I would certainly know him by sight. Condolences to you, the rest of the family and all his nearest and dearest.

My condolences to Micks family and friends.
Rest peacefully brother.

Reading these posts and seeing the name I believe Michael and I may have crossed paths at some point, though not at matches. If so I'm sure the Blades would have surfaced at some point, it's just the way it is. This being so it's doubly sad to hear this news, RIP Michael, with condolences to family and friends.

Whilst I didn’t know Michael my heart goes out to all of his family and friends. As a Blade we are not immune to the ravages of illness or age but we are immune to the erosion of being a Blade. Rest easy my fellow Blade, where ever you may be.
