Yes and we did that when we had "One of th best owners we've had" according to some
First of all your reply doesn't seem to have any relevance to the one youve replied to and secondly Abdullah was our best ever owner

Wetwhr you like him or not he got two Premier league promotions and increased revenue exponentially

It's amazing how bad some of our players appear to be if there's a chance we might sell them
Hamer can't last 70. Vinnie's slow and can't pass. Cooper can't kick straight.
Wilder performed a bigger miracle than I thought last year getting us to 3rd seeing as all our players are supposedly sh*t.
Nobody is saying they are shit but at the same time nobody is saying they are ready made premier league players.

As much as I like Cooper, if we get a decent offer we can get promoted with a half decent goalkeeper if the rest of the team is playing well and we don’t have clowns in defence. We got promoted with Wes last time, he wasn’t anything special, just solid.
But after that you then have to find a keeper good enough to play in the Premier League once you get there. We potentially already have that in Cooper.

We don't need ready made PL players, just ones who will get us out of the Championship amd Cooper at worst was the second best keeper in the Championship last season.

It’s at that point you get Ramsdale’s agent on the blower and ask him if Aaron fancies another relegation.

Wait, sorry, are people seriously questioning the idea of holding on to Cooper? If I've read the room correctly, there's a discussion around letting Cooper go, because you only need a keeper that's good enough, not outstanding? If this is the jist of it, I'm staggered. I don't think there's anyone higher on my 'gotta keep' list.

I’d love to keep him, I just wouldn’t be overly pissed off if we didn’t as long as we get a decent amount for him and replace him with a decent Championship keeper as an alternative.

Let’s be honest, if someone gets in his or his agents ear and offers him progression he’ll be playing here against his wishes anyway.

And left us wurh a 2 point deduction and a transfer embargo etc.
Can only assume you are taking the piss with this statement
I could say the same about some of your statements. Look back about some of the deals that were done at that time. No more time to waste when on holiday.

He didn't leave us with an embargo
And the points deduction was a trade off forntwo hundred million pounds promotion money and new investment

I didn't worshiomthe guy but im 50 and even though he wasn't ideal he was sreets ahead of all our other owners in taht time
Not even close

Still not looked back at some of the deals that enabled us to improve the squad. By the way I'm 82 and have seen some bad ones as well BUT selling 2 of our most influential players just before a transfer window shuts is what I would call taking the piss by, according to you our best ever owner.

Who did that ?

You mean the two players who wanted out and if we hadn't sold them we would have got nothing and been EVEN worse off financially.

He took a gamble keeping them when he did, yes he could have invested more but he didn't trust us to spend it wisely.

The biggest black mark against him is the fact he was resigned to relegation that season and made us look like mugs, however, on balance, it may have been the correct call as we were better off than Luton and just behind Burnley.

Lets just keep all our good players please. As fans the best option is always 'KEEP'. Sheffield United rarely replace with upgrades generally it's cheaper downgrades, we are the only team ever to go to the Prem and sell our 2 best players. Michael Cooper is a gem - why o why would we sell.
Aye
But we’ve (now) set a precedent/
Just ask Burnley

Yes them, but we sold them too late to do anything with the proceeds so it left us without any sort of replacements

If you're referring to ndiaye and berge they were sold a month before the window closed after refusing to sign new contracts

The reason we got an embargo is because we didn't cash in on them the season before instead risking it all on promotion instead

And if we had cashed in on them in January, yes we wouldn’t have started on -2 this season (which made fuck all difference anyway)

BUT

We almost certainly wouldn’t have got promoted - which would’ve cost us well over £100m

Probably would’ve fallen into championship mid table mediocrity this season

Wouldn’t have been in the shop window for a takeover by the yanks - who almost certainly have more funds at their disposal than PA did.

People just can’t see past it. It was a calculated risk, a gamble. We paid 2 points for promotion and £100m+++ and all the opportunities that brought with it.

If we had our time again anyone sensible would take that trade every single fucking time.

Imagine the bed wetting if we’d sold them in January and not gone up. It would be the same people crying about the -2 as well. Couldn’t do right or wrong at the time.

But still no bodies to replace them even to just keep the numbers the same so either not bothered about that or too late to do it

Yes the signings were shite on the whole.

He was skint by that point he needed to use a lot of the money generated by the promotion to pay off debts and costs associated with re-uniting the club, stadium and all its lands.

It really shouldn’t have been too much to wish for to add Hamer and Souza to a squad already containing Berge and Ndiaye but it wasn’t meant t be.

That engagement of a season though has left us now in a much better place than without it.

I think some of our fans got carried away with Cooper, he's good but we've had better. It was the players in front of him, especially with Souttar that made him look good.
If letting Cooper go meant that we could keep the players that Selles wants to keep, then I'd let him go.
One final point, in the play off final their keeper pulled off two great saves, our keeper didn't.

Mental. I don't think it's hyperbolic to say that he's a HUGE reason for our defensive record last season - and not even for his saves. It's about what his presence does for those in front of him. We've seen, all to frequently, in recent years what having a fragile keeper can do to a backline. Coppers persona is so very good for a keeper he exudes calm and confidence that bleeds into everyone in our defensive third.

If it's so easy to get a 'decent championship keeper' explain, Wes, Grbic, A.Davis, Ramsdale, Blackman, Verrips, Olsen, Amissah, Moore. Beyond Wes, who was decent but NEVER inspired confidence like Copper does, our recent history with keepers is doggers. Even Henderson IMO, while outstanding for us at the time, wasn't the complete package that Cooper is.

Only one I can remember who was better was Kelly.

I don’t think you’re reading my post correctly.

I don’t want him to leave, but if someone offers money for him and he wants to leave (which is very likely), then we’d be better off cashing in, his head will be turned and he’ll eventually leave for nothing.

As one of the top teams in the division we should be able to entice a decent replacement.
