I think he’s being readied to be our next first team manager. Recently promoted from U21 to being a first team coach.

I sat and listened to him speak about the philosophy and approach of the club through the youth through to the first team and he spoke extremely well at Shirecliffe.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Sheffield United vacant manager's job.
Please only apply if you are a club employee or ex employee.
This is a local club for local people we will not have outsiders here.

I cannot for the life of me think why this hasn't caught on at other football clubs.

Well he was very instrumental in the successful fight for Irish independence so why not.

I doubt the next owners who will be spending 100 million or so just to get control even have heard of him

Definitely not. He has a torrid time in his only managerial role at Bradford. He is a coach, and that’s where I think he is happy to remain.

Ok, didn’t know that.

I don’t blame you, it was a short-lived blink and you’ll miss it episode and I only know as I was employed there at the time. He was promoted from coach to manager and it just never worked for him. The club was a basket case at the time so it wasn’t the greatest environment for him for sure. He tried to implement a very technical and low tempo style of passing footy with League 2 players and it was always doomed to fail. The fans were on his back and I don’t think he was able to handle it.

Ok I see. He may change over time you never know. I was just really impressed with how he spoke about the club and football in general. It was at one of those days where sponsors get invited down to Shirecliffe.

I’ve no doubt he is a very knowledgeable coach, he was U18s at Bradford, then academy at Sunderland before us. I just think he likes to focus on his coaching, never seemed comfortable as a manager.

As well as the first moon landing, if they’re transferrable skills then we’ve potentially got a great manager on our hands.
And he made that 1 film then disappeared from the scene bit like ghandi and Ben hur

For once football would have a manager who genuinely had been over the moon.

He didn't actually step on the moon but I agree, what a CV.

Might be a bit early to be talking about him coming into the first team management. Lose a few games and he would be shot...
