Fucks sake. There's some reyt mongtards out there trying to appear contrarian and smart. Listened to too many podcasts and read the Guardian have we? Dozen regular starters?!?! We've lost Moore, Anel and Sousa.

How come we had to start the first game with Robinson and RND as first choice CBs not great is it ?
Youve probably been reading The Sun

Dont think 'mongtards' is really appropriate language these days

There transfer windows after this point wasn’t good enough & I think was the downfall.

Carrick’s team in that first season when they beat us was some of the best I’ve seen. I watched a few of their games that season as they were chasing us & they were just battering teams.

I’m not sure what went wrong after that
He didn't have Akpom and Archer up front.

Not directly aimed at you but the messiah that many seem to want to return for a third spell has this PL managerial record:
90 matches
20 wins
19 draws

22% win rate / 0.88 points per match

Other popular choices:

Cooper
67 matches
14 wins

33 defeats
21% win rate / 0.93 points per match

Dyche
332 matches

91 draws

None of them are the answer.

Jesus Christ thank the Lord that someone has put it into a context this lot might be able to understand.

They’re all terrible options and it’s why they’re out of work.

Dyche in particular..every time I see his name mentioned on here it makes me sad. Dyche and David Moyes took charge of 19 games each with essentially the same Everton team last season. Dyche's team got 17 points (3 wins, 8 draws, 8 defeats); Moyes' team 31 (8 wins, 7 draws, 4 defeats).

We’re not in the Prem.

Context is exactly what’s missing from those stats. Win rates have to be put into the context of the clubs being managed amongst many other circumstances.

I've provided a very clear context for why Dyche is a bad choice. You could argue that Cooper's replacement by Nuno at the TSCs showed the gap in managerial ability there; his time at Leicester and replacement by Ruud van Nistelrooy doesn't really add much either way. Wilder has never been given a chance at Premier League level other than at United and it's not particularly difficult to work out why.

You mean context like this?

I’ll repeat it again, Carrick, Cooper & Dyche were all hounded out of their clubs for very good reasons.

I will repeat again, non-descript Selles is far worse than Carrick, Cooper & Dyche.
C, C and D failed at the same or higher levels.
Selles failing at this level and failed at lower levels (PPG wise for sure) than the above
The overall take home from this for me is don't look at complete failures when selecting a manager
PPS is there any evidence anywhere of a manager failing and then doing well somewhere else afterwards - suspect not (someone mentioned Lampard but the jury still out on that)
But again seems to be strengthening the case for not selecting a failed manager in the vain hope they will get better at their job - evidence suggests they never do.
It seems to me the best hope for a club like ours is to find a manager who is on the up in a weaker league (domestic or European) hoping they can translate that job to a higher level.

That may or may not be the case but if Sellés is relieved of his duties I would hope we'd not appoint any of the three you mention. If I had to choose one it would be Carrick but that is very much under duress.

Why not post his record in the league that we are actually competing in?

We played great football under Nigel Spackman. We could do worse than giving him a bell?
