Michael Carrick

If he had someone like Alan Knill alongside him that would help. But he's had z very average start to his management career and had some cracking players he inherited at Boro plus decent backing. He plays defensive football according to my Boro mate. Id prefer him over Selles but arguably Selles has done more in his career than Carrick has.

Absolute bollocks more than likely, but if it’s true I’d be bitterly disappointed.

For a short spell of a few months Carrick looked like the real deal but he was the nearly man and never quite got there.
They were a bit inconsistent but played some great football, still think that night match when Boro beat us with Akpom and Archer was one of the best away performances I’ve seen from any club outside the Premier league.

I’d give Carrick a 6 out of 10 rating.
Might seem a bit underwhelming but I’d rate Selles as 3 out of 10, possibly lower.
So at least he’d be a big upgrade on Selles.

Cooper did exactly what we want to do when appointed at Forest, they were bottom of the league and he took them up... and at our expense...and the rest is history as look at them now.

If we are making a change surely it has to be for some proven championship manager otherwise we may as well stick

Cooper is the best option out there. Would take Dyche as well, though expect he’ll want a PL firefighting gig.

Carrick failed in his remit at Boro, so not sure what qualifies him for a better job!

He wouldn't be my choice at all. I'd rather Gary O'Neil over Carrick.

Underwhelming if true. At least we may have a plan and players knowing what their roles are. Carrick needs to appoint quality back up staff. At Boro he had Jonathan Woodgate and his brother. Mike Phelan would be a good number 2. Not sure how he would fit into the COH template of coach not manager. Then again I've given up trying to work out what COH are about.

I'll match your James Wilson, and raise you a Michael Twiss.
I’ve mentioned before that I (accidentally) broke his leg by putting him through the advertising hoardings at Staveley MW in a pre season friendly whilst he was playing for Chesterfield on trial.

I’d be fine with that. He showed signs of getting it right at Boro.
Look at Lampard’s first jobs and what he is sorting at Cov, now.

Those signs were that good that Gibson sacked him

The season he had Akpom and Archer he should’ve done better with that team. If not mistaken, it got worse from then on in?

Imo, he may be an improvement on Selles, but as for getting us up I’m not convinced

My fear with our owners, is that they go for the cheap option again. Choice of manager is absolute key

Carrick is similar to Rohl based on what he's achieved so far imo, took a team that had better players than their league table position suggests higher up - which makes sense for us. They're both a bit underwhelming but most managers that don't have a job are, at least Rohl would be funny.

Think I would rather have someone like Grant McCann than Carrick. Already has two promotions on his C.V in his shortish managerial career and seems a down to earth no nonsense kind of bloke. My only worry would be whether he's high profile enough to command the respect of the players.

I disagree there. Carrick with the pigs team probably gets relegated or finishes just above the drop. Rohl with that Middlesbrough team probably gets them into the play offs.

Carrick has failed to do the exact thing we want to achieve, and from a very similar starting point. Just like Lampard at Derby. That’s not to say they’re awful, but their CVs fall short.

If football recruitment was based on evidence, Cooper would have been in already. Supplement a mid table squad with quality loans. Make them gel. Get promoted.
What sort of CV has Selles then?
