Those that keep saying the club shouldn't issue a statement need to have a listen to one of the statements Phipps put out regarding where we wanted to finish and if we failed to achieve this then we will all have a sit down and weigh things up. If this wasn't said then some of our fans perhaps wouldn't be asking questions regarding Cloughys' future because we have ultimately failed in what we set out to achieve so the sit down is well and truly required.
which perfectly highlights the danger of making statements.

Me and Mrs HB seen this band, amongst a few other hard rockers... without the doubt, the best

Seen 'em a couple of times too, great entertainment :D

They definitely have the most original merchandise of any band I've come across. Apparently, should you so desire, you can buy Rammstein cock models - true to life. They also aren't averse to a post-gig session Darren would be proud of, with the lucky girls picked out of the crowd.

Fair play to them.

Given the antics me and Mrs HB seen them up to on stage and having thrown themselves off the stage, I can only imagine what they get up to back stage. But not quite as much as Mrs HB imagines it, apparently.

Maybe the video for "Pussy" wasn't a mock-up then ?? :)

Depend who the players is , and which club . Board members do ask senior players there thoughts on managers . Some clubs do have player power . Easier to sack the manager than players . No player power at the lane . Clough would not allow or tolerate it . Think Butler , Collins.

After careful consideration ....... following a two week long meditation on the matter, I've decided that I can put up with NC for another season, BUT only if he is prepared to really learn from his mistakes made this season and only if he brings in quality rather than quantity, chops some of the "dead wood" and stops persevering with the squad being made up of fu**ing midgets !!!!

If not ........ teddy is getting chucked out of the cot big time !!

Agree . i just find it incredible that Clough has just realised that we need a couple of CB players , height in the side, and a out and out goal scorer. Ok he has said Harry messed his plans up , with 11 days to go , for the start of the season. It may be the case that Harry was stopping and something / someone changed his mind.

All a bit not good enough , and as you say we do need quality to get us out of this league . We will see the clubs and Clough intent , with the first couple of signings they make.

It all depends how much money we have on player recruitment , and how good our scouting network is.

Defining season next season , in more ways than one.

Strangely enough I've changed my mind slightly over the past couple of days. I've definitely been in the 'let's be patient' camp and although I'm not wishing to see Cloughie get the sack I am not willing for him to have an open ended agreement in bringing success back to the Lane.

The passing of Woody has made me reflect on those amazing 5 seasons from August 1970. I want those times back and we need to see them return sooner rather than later.

Many fans will say we've no god given right to be dining at the top table. Well we didn't have any God given right to be topping the league up to October 1971. But we did. It's those incredible memories for many of us that keeps us going each season. We don't keep returning because of the Prince's money, Jim Phipps or Nigel Clough. The club don't realize the debt they owe to players like Alan Woodward.

By now we should have put together a team on and off the field to be further on than what we are.

I cannot think what more the fans could have done in their support since 2007. As of the start of the 2015/16 season it's payback time.

Great post which has brought good balance and key points to the whole scenario, well put mate.

I hold this band responsible for my tinnitus.

Won't say who or where but we had a chat about the place we were in, football and SUFC obviously.

I said at one point, "Well, anyway, we have Cloughy for next season."

He said, "I wouldn't be too sure about that." The way he said it surprised me and I could tell he meant it.

I didn't dare ask him exactly what he was getting at - bit to much to ask I thought and anyway he was out with his little boy.

I understand from elsewhere that JP is over soon so it may be a case of watch this space, or same owd, same owd, who knows?

Interesting times but I hope we know one way or t'other next week

Good call BOS

When I read this and saw who'd posted it, I thought hmmm... BoSS isn't one for idle speculation and a poster who I respect on here.
Good call BoSS, even though I think the decision is another nail in our considerable coffin....

So BornOnShoreham now the deed is done can you spill the beans?
If not - think up a tantalising clue for us to fester over :)

I was in York Designer Outlet today with Mrs BoSS and I saw a Blade shirt. I went over to chat - as you do - and I said, "Go on then, NC yes or no?"

He said "He was sacked at 12 o clock."

You could hear both my chins (:D) clang as my jaw dropped.

Anyway, I guess it's fair enough to spill the beans now.

It was actually Neil Collins and I was very surprised to see him in the David Lloyd Club Leeds where Mrs BoSS and I are members.

You get quite a few sportspeople going there, Yorkshire cricket, Leeds RL (Ellery Hanley is a member for example) and TV people such as one of the dancers from Strictly, and actors such as her from Emmerdale whose name I can never remember, and Derek Fowlds when he is filming Heartbeat.

I often used to chat to Nick Montgomery and others as well.
,
They come and go just like ordinary members and we don't talk shop but the footballers are very pleased to chat football especially when they know you're a Blade!

Some nice things have been said about my OP and I appreciate that; for those who scoffed, well fair play to you (I wasn't upset by the way) but at no time did I do anything other than report a conversation and the only reason I did was because of the way he said "I wouldn't be so sure of that." when I said about NC being here for another season.

To be honest, I am still surprised as I did think they would give him until Christmas; they really do have to get it right this time don't they?

I think we should be grateful to NC in many ways as despite his obvious failings, he steadied the ship, gave us a fabulous first season in the League, semifinals in the FA and League Cups as well as reaching the play-offs this last season. He called us a proper football club and he was right in so many ways and he was good for us in so many ways - but not where it mattered unfortunately.

I've no doubt they have somebody lined up so let the speculation begin.

Good luck Mr Clough and thank you
