Surely Messi will only come close to being the worlds best when he plays at the lane

Funny how the greatest players all end in sounding "eh"

Currie...
Messi...
Pele....

Montgomery...

I saw the best striker in the world play at the Lane. Shevchenko

the greatest player in the world was touted to the blades so legend sais....... but as an 18year old we said he wasnt worth the money. Anyone care to tell me if thos is myth and legend?

No idea, wild guess - Ian Ure.

Think it was maradonna, but we brought back sabella instead. If memory serves. Utb?not a myth.

not a myth, blades had the choice of sabella a current argentina international or a under 21 player with promise, we went for the full international saying that sabella was far too quick thinking for the rest of the blades team at the time so i shudder to think what the little fat argie cheat would have made of the players at the time.
we also had the chance to sign jostien flo's cousin if we were willing to wait till he had finished his national service, but didnt and he ended up playing for "lesser" teams like chelski :)

Not quite right. We were offered Maradona and would have signed him but the fee was too high, so we settled for Sabella who cost about half as much.

Also Tore Andre is Jostein's brother, it is Havard that is their cousin.

Three reasons why Messi isn't as good as Currie.

1. He's never sat on a ball. (This may be a bit wrong.:D)
2. He's never kissed Alan Birchenall.
3. He's not Tony Currie.

I appreciate that Messi is possibly the best ever, but he's not and never will be Tony Currie. In much the
he same ways that Sheffield is the nicest place on Earth, South Yorkshire is better than everywhere else, the Yorkshire puddings from your childhood made by your Grandma will never be bettered, that Bramall Lane is the best ground in the world, and that your own kid or kids are the best, Messi isn't as good as TC because he'll never be TC.

There's only one Tony Currie. And it isn't Leonel Messi.
