STOP FUCKING CHANGING A WINNING SIDE

You have to take into account 3 games in 5 days. Its not physically possible to sustain high levels of performance with the same team.

Problem is we don't have enough variation off the bench, and don't have any wingers to be able to change to a 4-3-3 - which would have been perfect for today.

It seems quite clear that Baldock struggles with knocks and that's why he's always out with niggles. I can see why Wilder wanted to rest him with so many games in a few days but we simply don't have the cover. Basham should never play there again at this level but who else is there?

The changes should have been made for Derby, a game we'll likely lose, and not for one we had a good chance of winning. He also should not have wound Madine up. Who was probably their best player.

Every team has had to rest players over the festive period. It's making the right decisions when to do that. In Chris' defence, we have hardly any depth at the moment, so difficult.

Is that why both Baldock and Donaldson came on then?

I mean for 90 mins.

Pay attention to Steven's performance against Derby in 48 hours time - he will be well below his level. Just not possible to sustain that for 3 games and not expect drop off in performance.

Donaldson hasn't played much. Wilder was probably thinking give Sharp some time today and then keep Donaldson a bit fresher for Monday.

Baldock has just returned from injury. It's probably a big risk for him to play three 90 mins in 5 days, at a wing back position where he covers more ground then anyone on the field, at higher speeds, and is involved in a lot of 1v1 duels.

The major issue is we don't have enough strength in depth.

Surely he's proven beyond doubt he knows what he's doing? He will have had his reasons and i trust 100pc

Good start Otis, welcome on board.

Thing is we've dropped to 6th from 2nd so people are disappointed.

If we'd clawed ourselves into 6th today everyone would be running around London Rd doing cartwheels, its just the perceptive that's the problem, we're doing alreight and Chris is the man.

Thats not entirely true. I get the feeling that the changes were made for two reasons:
a) to accomodate Fleck
b) for the physicality of Bolton.

Neither were necessary and neither worked

Had your statement been true we'd have seen more changes perhaps with carruthers starting for Duffy and Wright in for Stearman

Chris isn't the man, he's the god. He will however makes mistakes, as will the players - If the players can receive criticism, so can Wilder.

Edit: Meant to say the OP is stupid though, no reason to go OTT about things.

Could have played Thomas and Stevens as wingers to be fair?

my statement is 100% true in the context of top level football, and sustaining performance levels, which is why there are so many erratic results at this time of year (look at cardiff, leeds today etc)....

whether they were Wilder's reasons for changes is debatable. I agree changes didn't work.

Bench is a huge issue atm which is why we should have been unchanged imo, need bodies in, and bodies like Carruthers out

You're changing what you've said though. Your original statement:

"Its not physically possible to sustain high levels of performance with the same team"

Its not physically impossible, recovery time will have been sufficient for most players to play Boxing day and today.

Your erratic results comment, whilst correct, there are always odd results at this time of year, isn't necessarily down to fitness levels.

Wrong team for me today. Fleck back in is a given but don't understand the other changes. We move on though and go again.

I’ll add, I think we have one of the fittest sides in the league as well, and there’s been a lot of rotation recently regardless, Bolton themselves looked shattered at half time
