Merson says

That is a fair point and we'll miss his workrate and physicality but I think we can still cause them problems.

Stick McAtee and Hamer behind Archer I say. Try to play through them and shoot on sight, because all 3 can hit the target.
I’m gutted he’s out, but maybe McBurnies absence might allow us to have more of a presence in midfield and defend 20 yards further up the pitch, thus protecting our back line better and maybe, just maybe giving us a more deliberate and fluid transition into attack…Instead of just hacking it up field.

Newcastle have hardly created much so far to warrant scoring 3 in any game tbh.

Lazy pundit prediction shocker.

They have Burn & Schar CB's, both are more traditional defenders who will be a match for Oli
Good job he's suspended then!
Hopefully they'll struggle more with fast players, having said that they'll probably foul to their heart's content and never get penalised.
I want to see how dangerous we are with freekicks around the goal area.

Our issue again could well be what we have on the bench to bring on later in the game.
Hopefully it's going to be the strongest bench we've had all season as I think we'll need it.

Do you edit for The Sun?!

I'm optimistic. We are improving game on game.

We have done well to keep the goal difference at a respectful level.

However our defence can't be relied upon to get us a result or 'keep the score down' each week.

We need an outlet from midfield and up top to take the pressure off.

It's a tough call for Hecky and his staff to replace Mcburnie.

I'm sure it's been done before.

Hardly takes a footballing genius to predict that we may well lose on Sunday....

As for Merson's punditry, put it in the same box as Crooks, Aluko, Danny Mills and Sue Smith.

Of course, the regular predictions of defeat for us aren’t outrageous but when plant-pots like Sutton and Merton throw in a thumping score line, the laziness should be highlighted.

There is precious little basis on which any ‘pundit’ could conclude that United will get thrashed…in any fixture, frankly. It happens relatively rarely - and it is even more rare for it to happen to us at Bramall Lane.

We’ve played 41 Premier League home games under Wilder and Hecky, and only once in that time have we lost by more than 2 goals - the 0-3 to Arsenal in the relegation season.

In general - even in the dire relegation season - United are invariably ‘in games’ and more often than not, we go down by a single goal. We don’t have a history of being a pathetic cannon-fodder side like others - such as Leeds last season who would ship 5 at home one week and then 6 the following week, Southampton where you could just think of any number, or even spineless turds like ManU who shipped 6 to Man City and 7 to Liverpool.

Our lads have generally had a bit more about them…not that the thick talking heads in the media have noticed.

Carls a good mate but I get where your coming from on the pitch especially, but he would also laugh and agree
As a young lad playing semi pro at the time he was the opposite of helpful. Absolutely full of himself, we had David Reeves as well ex of Chesterfield and he was the opposite, annoyingly Bradders was my favourite player when I was a mascot v Arsenal in 1992. Never meet your heroes!

He meant away from the pitch, when he came out with his 'issues' at Villa ,it changed the social side for players, not for the better.
Bradders doesn’t like him because it became public that he had addiction issues?! That’s a weird reason for thinking someone’s a wanker.

Its related to a particular event smartarse.
And Carl is far from full of himself, hes the exact opposite , maybe the problem is with you as you are one of the most disagreeable people on here.

Don’t agree with Sitwell = “one of the most disagreeable people on here’

My experience of Bradders was that he was a bit of a prick with young lads who were earning between £50-£100 a week to play football. He was right to think he was better than we were but the way he chose to show it was what I’d deem ‘ a bit of a prick’.

I’ve seen and spoken to him a few times since and have no axe to grind. Just pointing out past behaviour.

Like I say, he was a idol of mine as a kid. Just took the shine off those years later.

I was (and sometimes still am) a prick as a younger man, it happens.

Wilder was also a prick when I was in the Alfreton setup as a late teenager as well. Blades can be pricks. Don’t take it personally.

That Newcastle will beat us 3-0 on Sunday, is he still drinking?
No issue with this. Champions league team going to a struggling newly promoted team, they are significantly better than us, even if they have had a stuttering start - Probably not the only one suggesting such result.

think it might be a draw but with west ham next we really could do with the 3 points tomorrow having said that any points from any of the top 6 clubs is a bonus so a draw wouldnt be disastrous imo the other slight concern ive got is that if we lose these next 2 games morale in the group may well sink

Football pundit predicts good team to beat poor team.

Cue shock and outrage.
Yes, if you strip it all back that’s exactly what it is. But with us it just seems to be different. With other strugglers the pundits try to look for positives, whereas with us it’s 0-3, not good enough for this league….move on.

Some of you really crack me up. Why is it that outlandish to suggest a team in the Champions League will beat a newly promoted side who will probably get relegated 3 zip?
