Kraft durch Freude
As is becoming common at this stage of the season, I’ve usually done a ‘Memries of QPR’ earlier in the season so just a bit of updating needed. Despite a recent spell in the Premier League, QPR remain a very average Championship team. In October 2017, they were ordered to pay a world-record £40m fine for breaches of FFP rules, which they (and Bournemouth and Leicester City) are contesting.
On October 29th, 2017 I did a ‘Memries of QPR’ and we’ve only played them once since then.
That was a narrow 0-1 defeat at Loftus Road on October 31st, 2017. On Halloween night, United provided a horror show and it was definitely ‘one of those games’. Goalkeeper Blackman made an error of judgement that gifted QPR the only goal of the game after just 5 minutes. Blackman was stretchered off with badly injured pride and bruised ego. Misses by O’Connell and Clarke – and a late disallowed goal by Clarke – summed up United’s misery. For the loyal Blades fans in attendance, there were few tricks and even fewer treats (That’s enough – ED.)…
And here’s Chris Wilder’s usual honest assessment of the game:
So why ‘Queens Park Rangers’? (can you see I’m struggling?). Queens Park Rangers were founded in 1886 after the merger of Christchurch Rangers and St. Judes Institute. In the early years after the club's formation in its original home of Queen's Park, London, they played their home games at many different grounds, until finally the club settled into its current location at Loftus Road.
To date, our League results against QPR read:
Home: P: 23 W: 7 D: 12 L: 4 F: 30 A: 24
Away: P: 24 W: 5 D: 6 L: 13 F: 26 A: 36

A 2-0 home win against Bolton on Saturday 17th February keeps them in a mid-table position.

Men to watch
QPR do not have a ‘stand-out’ goal scorer but much-travelled 6’ 6” striker Matt Smith (signed from Fulham in January 2017 for an initial £500,000 possibly rising to £1m) is a formidable opponent:
