'Memries' Memries of L***s

Still has to be the cup game for me due to Jag's goal and the L**ds fans going crazy ripping the wooden seats out of the Bramall Lane end.

I got a ticket for a Leeds United friend next to me in the John Street stand for the game in April 1992, on the proviso that a/ he didn't wear any colours and b/kept his mouth shut. I should have known when he turned up in a bright yellow jumper, it wasn't going to end well. I had to move in the end as he was winding me up so much and then Brian Gayle scored 'that'own goal. Never got him another ticket, wanker.

Anyone remember Blades 3- 0 win in August 1971 when Leeds were reigning champions and we were newly promoted? 40,000 watched from 3 sides in a deafening atmosphere.
Flynn 1-0

Dearden 2-0, at the time most of the L**ds players surrounded the ref and hassling him because he refused to give a foul for them

Cammack's point saver after L**ds players were stunned by the firework display (in front of the soon to be completed South Stand) that had set off prematurely before the final whistle. Easter Tuesday 1975. Cammack is on the far left of the photo

Which means you're either under 45 or not really bothered about football.
As the OP eloquently put, Leeds were the biggest set of cunts this country has ever seen on a football pitch under Revie. They re-defined cheating in their own image. Anyone of a certain age, and it is absolutely country wide, hates them with a passion from then until now. In the same way I feel sorry for myself for not seeing Jimmy Hagan and the younger element for missing TC and Woody, anyone who missed them in their "prime" missed a master class of a very different kind.

As for actual memries, the League Cup win in 1970 was my personal favourite (I'd been to the QF in '68 as mentioned in the OP and was absolutely distraught) and that night we avenged that defeat in some style.
Trickiest moment was when we were sat in the main stand and the Morris/Edwards combo conjured up a goal of such beauty it simply wasn't possible to stay seated. Had to beat a hasty retreat into the bowels of the stand an watch the rest of the game from elsewhere.

Hence the football song "we all hate Leeds, and Leeds, and Leeds, Leeds, and Leeds and Leeds, and Leeds, etc......"

2 memories truly stand out for me, not just as games against L**ds, but as 2 of the most amazing experiences I've had watching United.

First is the 2-1 league cup win. Behind at half time, behind as 90 minutes ticked by and then....Jags' thunderbastard of a goal...utter bedlam on the kop and all over the ground. Everyone sort of settled down and then Pesch got the ball on the right...I distinctly remember turning to my dad and saying "Just imagine if we win it now..." His response was along the lines of "don't be daft, let's settle for extra time." Then...the centre...Allison's attempt...some dirty L**ds twat's failed clearance...Nuddy's finish...cue celebrations like I have never experienced before or since at the lane. Sheer, unadulterated joy. I ended up flat on my back 2 rows in front of my seat. Grown men were crying and hugging total strangers. It was an experience that I will NEVER forget, and unless we win promotion at the lane at the end of this season, I doubt will ever be beaten. God the hairs on my neck are standing up just typing about it now, 17 years later.

Secondly, and admittedly a bit of a comedown after that, was the glorious 0-4 at Bellend road. 1-0 up inside 2 mins, 2-0 up at half time and a display of utter dominance saw 2 more in the 2nd half. We went, we saw, we conquered. The antics of Kozzy in the warm-down as we were all locked in after the match just capped off a truly amazing night. What I wouldn't give for a repeat of that result on Friday...

I used to really dislike Leeds, not as much as Wednesday but not far behind. But since those earlier days, I've lessened in my dislike for Leeds, although I do think they do have a larger than normal unsavoury fan base, and they're as arrogant as Wednesday, if not more so, but at least they can claim to have won stuff post WW2, unlike Wednesday!

Fuck 'em...we've already dismantled the snort beasts this season...now it's time to spank a genuinely big club (I hate saying that, but they are) in their own back yard. The only way this season (so far) can get better is if we go top of the league against a club that has always looked down on us, derided us and nicked our star players. For 2 hours or so on friday night the pigs are inconsequential...it's all about showing that we are THE BEST team in the finest county in the country (apart from Huddersfield, who we need to wait a bit to put back in their place).

Enjoyed a match about 14 years ago, they came to the lane, lost, went back to Leeds with their tales between their legs and we followed on the next train to give them hell......happy days

Hamson lazy?

He was a hard worker!

Always tackled, always running up and down the field. Not heard from anyone else who branded him lazy!

Hamson was a good player, probably our best in that dreadful in 78/79, it was only injury that stopped him having a really successful career in football. In the Match of my Life United book he made the point that he did all the running and spade work for Sabella as he (Sabella) wouldn't track back.

Jags' screamer in '02. I was stood right behind it looking from JSS, unbelievable scenes.
Nuddys winner a minute or so later. Only the Forest playoff game later that season comes close to the level of elation at that moment.

The 2-0 home win in '04. I remember it being a lovely sunny day, a pretty special goal direct from a free kick (Tonge?) And that members of NYC fire dept who were there on 9/11 were honoured guests, and got a massive round of applause when introduced.

I was there too..

Autumn 1978 L**ds won 4-1 at the Lane in the League Cup and their fans were singing "Thank you very much for Tony Currie" to the tune of the Quality Street ad.

March 85: The police closed off the Bramall Lane corner terracing but the L**ds fans invaded it. A police announcer came on the tannoy and said "Would the Leeds fans please go back under the cantilever stand" Needless to say they ignored him. I was on the Kop but you could see/hear the tension between the L**ds fans and the lads in the West Terrace throughout the game. We won 2-1 thanks to Mel Eves.

Sep 85: Steve Foley sent off in a 1-1 draw at Elland Road

Spring 1988: Hammered 5-0 at Elland Road in our relegation season.
Wasn't Lewington also sent off.

Leeds fans remind me of the sad old bloke sat in the pub, knocking on a bit, wearing cheap clothes that he still thinks are in fashion, with arms covered in faded blue ink. Used to be a bit of brawler and respected for the power of his fists a few years ago, and still thinks he is someone but has been nobody for the last few years. Desperate to noticed, desperate to be feared and respected, but is now a sad nonentity.
Sounds like my next door neighbour...

Leeds are just a more glamourous version of Millwall. Cunts come from all quarters of the country because of their vile reputation.

I fuckin hate Leeds nearly as much as the pigs sad to say those two clubs are the most vile corrupt set of bastards in the UK and both from Yorkshire. Only been to Leeds 3 times and had trouble on each occasion, the first time when about 14 or 15 some 40 odd year old bloke decided to slap us about before telling us to fuck off back to Sheffield. A few years later a mob got us coming out of the ground no where to go so walked through them taking a few slaps only to find my mate doing a runner. He decided to stop at the side of two coppers who did fuck all until he fought back and was getting the upper hand then they stepped in with the familiar message you shouldn't come to fuckin Leeds he then took a beating off the coppers which was preferable to being charged. On the third time after getting in another ruck we decided not to go there any more. Trouble from Leeds knuckle dragger's was not confined to Leeds matches we also saw then turn up at places like Huddersfield, Halifax and York the latter got very lively as they followed us to the station going over the river bridge they got very close and the shout went up to turn on them total panic they run like rabbits one or two fell off the bridge but lucky for them the tow path was not too far below. On the station it was carnage our train on the next platform to the Leeds local.
I think others have covered the vile tactics of the Revie team of surrounding referee's and virtually roughing them up to get decisions and a core of utter thugs who would try to wind opposition players up, didn't sir Len of Badger once get sent off a Bellend Rd after decking Jack Charlton not only were Hunter, Giles and Bremner dirty bastards they were sly with it

I don't think we need to go into how many times the have gone down the administration road ripping off anyone dumb enough to invest in them. The first club in England to bring in rip of prices for second rate football followed a few years later by you know who from south Barnsley way.

Yes I thought that when I was typing it but wasn't 100% sure. Was a decent result getting a 1-1 draw there with nine men.

Harley with the free kick not Tonge. Ashley Ward got the other, we were worthy winners.

I was at the Easter Monday game when they beat us the season we both went up. As said earlier on the thread they hardly gave us any tickets but quite a few lads had got tickets from Elland Road in the Lowfields Stand and I think it was 3 coaches that went from The Greyhound in Attercliffe.

We drove into Leeds incognito and it wasnt until we were dropped off right outside their ground that the coppers realised something was up. It was too late by then and we all got into the seats in the Lowfields Stand behind the terrace. I'm pretty sure we kept quiet for a while but after they scored their first gial a big chant of Sheffield, Sheffield, Sheffield went up and all he'll broke loose. They were trying to attack us in the seats and trying to get up from the terrace but we were all tight together and they made no inroads. The coppers quickly surrounded us and we stayed there for the rest of the game.

I was in a seat one from the end of a row and my main memory is of the Leeds fan sat next to me saying there's loads of Sheffield in here and me going yeah we're all Blades. He quickly pissed off and over the other side of the gangway and returned with some lads to be met by a flurry of punches from some big lads behind me.

It's that long ago I can't even remember how we got home but I'm pretty sure the coaches were waiting for us outside the ground where they dropped us off surrounded by coppers.

My favourite 2 memories of Leeds

THAT goal from Jags

Beating the MIGHTY LEEDS twice in the Triple Assault season

Also fucking hate these twats , hate the club , team , fans , area and even those five letters assembled in that fucking order .. ones I mainly remember and went to we’re my first as a young un was in the League Cup 78/79 at the lane lost 4-1 ( Nicky johns what a wanker ) , then away at Bellend Rd 1-1 there were one a characters on that away trip , 2-0 at ours same season . 1-0 following season at there’s in early KO .
The 2-2 at Lane in promotion season and the 0-4 at there place where there was a load of us in there Lowfield Rd stand.

My two favs I’ve saved for the last Jags thunderbolt in the League Cup & then turning them over again in FA cup same season .

Just to re-iterate if any Leeds twats want some quotes in their View From ... We fucking hate you ..I know I’m sitting on the fence but I better not say how much I really hate you

As a young kid in the early 70's in the footballing backwater of the East Midlands, with no local team to support and Leeds being one of the "big dogs" of the time I nominally supported Leeds. In so much as I had a Leeds school bag and knew some of their players. There I've admitted it.

Nothing came of it, we weren't right for each other and we went our separate ways after a couple of years.

I've only been to Elland Road once, to support Rushden & Diamonds with my parents as they played Leeds in a cup game.

Yessssss! Was there, the most awesome atmosphere ever. Night match, mega crowd, me just 12 in the John Street terrace. And the Kop singing "What's it like to be inside Jackie Charlton".

This in my view was our best ever result against them because at the time Leeds were good, I mean stonkingly good. Would be like turning over Chelski or Man U 3-0 at BDTBL.

Well there is next season. :)

Are you being dealt with at the Magistrates or Crown Court? You are lucky that the convict ships are a thing of the past. :)

I absolutely despise them. My main memories are beating them 1 - 0 in the League Cup, Currie scoring at The Lane end when I think they were Champions. Also playing them twice in two days at Easter, mid seventies, 0 - 0 up there on Easter Monday and losing the following night 2 - 0 I think when they brought thousands and filled the Kop while proper fans were still in the pub. Some right bollocks all over the ground that night..
Then there was Cammack scoring out of the firework smoke in the mid seventies, that was sweet.
Woodward scoring the winner up there against all the odds when we were already relegated in 76.
Being in the Lowfield Stand when we lost 4 - 0 in promotion season. That was very naughty but leeds should have given us more tickets.
Then of course the two cup wins, still remember the elation when we got the second goal in the League Cup win, it doesn't get much better than that.
I hate their fans, the club and the city, and by the way, the city of leeds is smaller than Sheffield despite what look leeds says.
