Last night took me back to boxing day 1973 and our 2-1 at Old Trafford. I went on the SUT buses from Pond Street on my own, my mate didn't show - no phone for me in those days.
Not many travelled only 3 coaches
I stood in that corner between the scoreboard end and main stand where most Blades were sat in.
Anyone else there that day? Great memories of that one

I certainly was, for some reason got tickets for the main stand. TC and Woody I think the scorers. They were relegated that season.
Also went the season before when we won, Keith Eddy scored, ended up on the corner overlooking the Stratford end. Steve Faulkner made a rare appearance, might have been his debut.

On a side note I feel as good as James Brown this morning.

I was there for both matches in 1973 as I said in my response to a similar thread last night
I suppose Silent that younger supporters would be gob smacked that we had beaten them at Old Trafford twice in the same year.
Not as gob smacked as me last night, though.
My wife commended me on staying calm, there are times, this season when she thought I was developing Tourette’s. She didn’t know until this morning, how much I had drunk.

There was fuel rationing during the 1973-74 winter. My dad, myself, my cousin and her friend travelled in my dad's car. Years later I asked my dad how did he manage to get fuel during that winter, he said he syphoned it off from a van at his work!

You had a car - posh git! could have given me a lift home. I had to get through quite a few upset Man U hooligans to get back to the coach lol

Who went to this one in 1975? This match set the tone for a terrible season for us, bit like this one and after so much promise. A rampant Man Utd and a sold out Old Trafford. Me at the back of the Stretford End and a poorly organised Blades team. I feared last night would be a similar result...I needn't have worried 😀

I was there and for some bizarre reason we decided to enter the ground around 1.30. Pay on the turnstile, no tickets or plastic seats in those days.
Lots of scrapping everywhere and OT was very full. Very different back then as well, very low rise and just all terracing making segregation nigh on impossible.
What a time to be a Blade!
Top of the league and unbeaten. We lost on that day of course but we had a group of phenomenal quality players.
Halcyon days.

went to the one in oct 71 was locked out along with 10k blades fans 🤨
I got to the ground at about 1 o’clock, just about the time that the club decided to open the turnstiles early because there were a lot of supporters gathering outside.I decided to go in,i had a feeling it was going to become a problem if i waited too long, others went to get some food and never got in.

I was there with 6 Beighton Blades, remember being just 3 people off getting in the scoreboard end when the wall looked like it was going to give way and the police ordered the turnstiles shut- such was the pressure of the crush.
After listening to a transistor radio outside, we got in for the last 15 minutes in the Stretford end to see Georgie Best score THAT goal

remember having radio on in car going over snake and bill bothwell saying that manc fans had been queing at the ground from 9.30 that morning most from sheffield were stuck in gigantic traffic jams going over the pennines think they closed gates about 1.45

Also went to this game on S U T. -65p return fare?! We were sitting on coach after game in a pitch black car park waiting to leave. Then BANG. Some idiot had put a brick thro a side window Driver took us to a depot at Denton or somewhere to pick up a replacement coach which turned out to be an ordinary bus.Someone kept ringing the stop bell all the way back to pond st
Memory of the match- spent most of 2nd half defending then in final minute Woody broke away and buried one in bottom corner - Man U fans not best pleased.

Yes, Jim Holton allowed a kick from Connaughton to bounce over his head and Woody broke away. Stepney came out , Woody placed his shot past him, the ball bouncing slowly towards the goal, hit the post and went in!
